Title: Same conf for all users on multi platforms
Post by: SiNGLeLord on July 19, 2004, 03:00:52 AM
Is it posible to make amule to use same config files for all users on linux?

And one more question... Are aMule's files (config, tmp, etc.) compatible with eMule's? If yes, then is it possible to make eMule and aMule to use same files? If not is it possible to make win aMule and aMule to use same files?

Sorry for my english and thanks in advance

link ~/.eMule to some publicly readable (and probably writable) config file.

files in ~/.aMule, mostly yes, but config file (that is, ~/.eMule, no).

I never tried and, what's more, I wouldn't recomment it, because of the famous newline char incompatibilities between Unix and MS'S OSs, but you ca try linking fomr ~/.aMule/ to the eMule files. Remember the files MUST have write permissions.

Config file has a different format thatn eMule's. Also, aMule has different preferences (some more, some less, than eMule)

If possible, keep aMule as aMule and eMule as eMule ;-)
I hope that helped. Greetigns!

hey
the temp files are 100% compatible from aMule and eMule, only thing you will notive first time you start aMule with your new Win32 files they get rehashed but that is a normal procedure...

First, second, third and any time you switch from aMule to eMule and the other way round.
So expect both aMule and eMule to take a lot of CPU for some time when switching from one to the other.
