Title: Transfer is much less than Completed
Post by: linuZman on July 19, 2004, 04:46:26 PM
I read the FAQ where it stated that Transfer could be lower than completed due to compression...

620MB ISO file
2.03MB Transferred
277.40MB Completed
44 percent

ICH reports 275MB gained due to compression.

Would this mostly likely mean that the file is corrupt?

Short answer: No.
Long answer: *Mule uses zlib compression (zip), when sending files, which can lead to much improved transfers, since many files compress rather well. This means that you often can have files that are completed with Completed > Transfered.

However, in this specific case, I'm willing to bet that the file you are downloading is a fake, since such high compressions ratios almost always are found in huge, but empty files.

That is exactly what i thought.

That given the excessive compression ratio that this file was not valid!
