have fun :)
-
Hum.
How can I say it.
THIS IS A DEBUG VERSION, GUI HAS BUGS, NETWORK HAS BUGS, FILE HANDLING HAS BUGS, IS COMPILED ON DEBUG SO IT TAKES LOT OF CPU AND MEM.
That said, have fun testing and PLEASE report all bugs you find (but make sure not to repeat them!)
-
you forgot it will delete all sex pictures in users' harddisks!
-
Shhhhhhh we don't want to scare them
-
woa! 146MB once copyied out from the dmg...
anyway, i tryed to launch the app and i got this error window:
"wxWidegts Degub Alert
ClientCredits.cpp(422): assert "false"failed.
Do you want to stop the program?
You can also choose [Cancel] to suppress further warnings."
cliked NO
and got:
"wxWidegts Degub Alert
ClientCredits.cpp(325): assert "false"failed.
Do you want to stop the program?
You can also choose [Cancel] to suppress further warnings."
cliked no but got the some alert 3 times again since i hit cancel
what does it mean?
after that the aMule windows appeared and a new alert:
can't write buffer '/Users/my_user_name/.aMule/logfile' to disk
and in the detail windows gave me a permission error for directory creating etc.
if u interested i saved the log

solved changing .amule owner from root to my user
-
now working ok?
(I know it's a lot of filesize, but it's debug build, with debug symbols. and also it's amule + all the libs needed)

really not.
during first launch (the one with that error msgs) i changed the .amule folder permissions and for a while the mule worked:
1 I succesfully connected to razorback2.
2 Tryed to do a search with no result
3 went on the shared files windows and it was empty and after a while the mule closed.
then i retry starting it for 3 times, but each time as soon as the connection windows appear the mule closed
pls note that i've changed in the mule pref the incoming and temp folders to another path not in the .amule folder.
Does it care about that?
really not

i couldn't connect to some servers, it disconnect's. but i can connect to a few servers and seems to
work ok.
-
....takes a lot of memory, lot of errors, now it crashes while connecting..
by the way....i think that 160MB(more or less) for a p2p application is quite 'enough',compared 2 other applications workin'...

Caino brotha : Kry insisted on the fact it is a DEBUG version, with debug codes and stuff, plus it also includes all the libs. So yes, that's a big file but it's not final. The final release will surely be lighter than this.
Now don't be contemptuous, they're putting a lot of hard work into it, and the mac version seems to be in the early development stages still...
Good luck guys and thanks for everything [/me ask big round of applause!]

Hi. I don't know if this is of any help. I tried the app (dmg) today under OS X Panther and got the following error starting up (also as MsgBox):
Initialising aMule
Userhash loaded: B11DF9AB530E17C9C843ACDA3C926F24

*** TCP socket at 4662

src/mac/carbon/thread.cpp(1685): assert "gs_nWaitingForGui > 0" failed: calling wxMutexGuiLeave() without entering it first? [in child thread]
Trace/BPT trap
The App then exits without a crash. This happens as "normal" user with or without having the ~/.aMule dir. Interestingly, if I start the App with sudo, I manage to start aMule like others reported (that means reponsable GUI but not able to download server.met etc., but hey: wow!).
Maybe this is related to the fact, that I don't have a user root on my system like OS X comes if newely installed? Or are all others reporting bugs useing it as root/via sudo??
Maybe it also has to do with my OS X being German? At least "Sharing //Benutzerhandbcher und In#31379" seems to point in this direction, it should state "Benutzerhandbücher und Informationen". But then, this root-dir is always there, also with "sudo ls /". Hmmm...
Anyway, thanx a lot for the work!

Are you sure you haven't wrong permissions on ~/.eMule and ~/.aMule files? Make sure they are not owned by root.
Greetings!

No, that's not the case. I started with no .aMule dir at all as normal user, that means, it got created by amule. Also, I got
drwxr-xr-x 7 xa xa 238 30 Jul 23:37 .aMule/
if I do a ls -la ~ (that's me, "xa"). Also to chown -R all files in the dir to xa:xa didn't help.
But now I'm pretty shure, it has something to do with those german "Umlaute". As normal User xa, when hitting always "No" in the "Assert failed/Do you want to stop?"-Dialog, I got probably more info:

Strange that amule wants to share my /Applications Folder without asking me :-) Maybe Kry wants to download "Word for OS X" this way hehe!
With sudo, there is NO output about shareing any files.
Greetings too!

but what about the ~/.eMule file?
-
Never had a .eMule-File on OS X. I always thought, that .eMule is just scanned for compatibility-issues with eMule-users switching from Windows to Linux/aMule. Am I wrong here?
At least on Linux, there was also never a .eMule Dir...
Greetings
-
it's not a directory, it's a file. It's there becaause lMule had it, xMule had it and aMule has it so ;)
You should have it I guess, allthough I've never used Mac, so maybe not on mac. so I can't help you any further. My guess is permissions problem, seeing from a Linux/PC view... ;)
Gretings!

You're right, ~/.eMule is there under linux, filled with settings, sorry.
I copied it over to my iMac, but it didn't help, same asserts failing and also same (good) behaviour working with sudo (if I downlod server.met, I even get connected! But then aMule crashes :-(. But I think, this has already been reported).
What is left to say, is, that the .eMule of the linux box is from aMule 1.2.6, but I doubt that makes the difference.
Anyway:
* if ~/.eMule is still needed, it should be created if not there. Which is not the case under OS X (neither as normal users nor under sudo).
* When I'm already reporting problems with files: .aMule/preferences.dat is also not beeing created. When I change settings, aMule complains about not finding .aMule/preferences.dat. But when I do a "touch .aMule/preferences.dat" before starting aMule and then change settings, they get saved without a problem, so the only thing left to do here would be to create an empty preferences.dat when the .aMule dir gets created initially (just a suggestion).
Greetings

Thanx about those reports :)
Well, you know Mac support is under development yet. In fact, that's why aMule is still in rc stages, because on Mac it's not working yet (as soon as it works on Mac, 2.0.0 final will be out, since on Linux it's mostly fine already).
Again, thanx for the reports and expect aMule working on your Mac ASAP :)))
Greetings!

I'm in no hurry. I can still use my Linux PC to use aMule, if I ever have an urgent need to download something. The main reasen I want to switch amule to OS X is that the PC is so damn loud and my iMac totally silent.
If everything fails, I will use Qemu (http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/) to install windows or linux on top of my OS X :-) .
thanx for the support anyway.
