Title: 2rc5 crashes and then: libwx_gtk-2.4.so.0: cannot open
Post by: feralertx on August 10, 2004, 02:04:19 AM
My amule suddenly crashed and now it doesnt start up !! This is what i get when i try to start it:

Quote
./amule: error while loading shared libraries: libwx_gtk-2.4.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

The file "libwx_gtk-2.4.so.0" doesnt seem to exist on my system since i did an updatedb and locate doesnt show any results, so has it been deleted?  ?(

Ive had 1.2.x and all the previous releases of 2.0.0 rc and never had no problem with them. Right now Im using mandrake 10.0 official with amule rc5, and i do not use that pc for anything else than emule and some ftp, and i connect to it via vnc. The only program i had running at the time of the crash was amule and i was monitoring it with a vnc session (so vncserver was running too).

I suppose i will need to reinstall the gtk thing, but how comes the file got deleted ?? Did amule do that?  8o

Thanks for any hints !!   :baby:

Well, thanks for the replys but as i said earlier, I had working amule for a loooooooooooong time on that machine, all 2.0.0 rcs have been working there and 2.0.0 rc5 had been working fine and very stable since release date, and yesterday -for no apparent reason- it just crashed and now it says it cant find that file.

So the problem is not that something was missing but that something that i had already installed have been deleted or removed or unistalled, and my question is why? Did amule do that?

Thanks

Of course it was not amule.

since aMule is run as user, such files as libraries and such cannot be deleted. You run some command as root and somehow got to unsinstall wx :-(
Reinstall wx.
Gretings!

Dont know what happened really, i do not use that computer for anything else than emule so i do not need to become root that often, but i remember i did install some updates from mandrake which might have cause this, not sure though...

Anyways, I have reinstalled wx and everything is gone back to normal, amule starts fine again.

Thanks eveyone for your help.

Very good work you do btw, please keep it up !!   :baby:
