Hello,
Today I started working on Slovene/Slovenian translation of aMule.
-
Nice :) some people will be happy :)
Thepolish
-
I certainly will :) I wanted to do it myself a few weeks ago but gave up pretty quickly. There sure are a lot of strings to translate 8o
Good luck Typhon, I'm looking forward to running a Slovenian aMule.
-
just 1315 strings...
-
Yep, "only" 1315 strings! But I have all the patience I need, so there's no problem. When I'm done, I'd like some feedback to be able correct mistakes, or to make better translations.
-
Greetings,
Due to time constraints I had to suspend my Slovene translation indefinitely. Below is attached partially translated *po language file, if anyone wants to pick it up and continue.
Regards!
-
you are the first one to translate for next release :)
Congrats! (and maaaaany thanks ;))

Hi
bash-2.05b$ make si.gmo
rm -f si.gmo && /usr/bin/msgfmt -c --statistics -o si.gmo si.po
243 messages traduits, 1072 messages non-traduits.
Added, but slovene people ar welcome to continue :)

I was feeling odly motivated today... So here you go, si.po file with all strings translated. I wonder how many (if any) slovenian aMule users are out there... If there are, you're welcome to make suggestions to improve the translation.
-
jacobo@Soofa:~/aMule/amule-dev-cvs/po$ make si.gmo
rm -f si.gmo && /usr/bin/msgfmt -c --statistics -o si.gmo si.po
1354 translated messages.
Thanks! :)
P.S.: Please check the forum's Private Message, i sent you one.

I screwed up the charset. It should be ISO-8859-2, not UTF-8. Fixed some typos and improved some translations too.
Also, compiled today's amule cvs and slovenian didn't show up. Then I looked at my system locales and noticed that that the slovenian locale is "sl" and not "si". After making the change I now have a slovenian aMule.
-
ye, it was added to the menu yesterday but later removed because the language selecton is going to suffer from a little reimplementation. It is possible that it isn't added until after rc8, but anyone having LC_ALL environment variable (that is most of slovenian users for sure) will have a aMule running in slovenian even without directly seelcting it in the menu. so don't worry ;)
Sorry for the inconvenience :-(
Thanks both of you (Gusar and Typhon) for keeping the translation :)))))
Greetings!
-
btw,
jacobo@Soofa:~/aMule/amule-dev-cvs/po$ make sl.gmo
rm -f sl.gmo && /usr/bin/msgfmt -c --statistics -o sl.gmo sl.po
1354 translated messages.
;)
-
the slovenian button is now in the language selection menu :)
Greetings!
-
Another update, hope I found all typos this time.
-
jacobo@Soofa:~/aMule/amule-dev-cvs/po$ make sl.gmo
rm -f sl.gmo && /usr/bin/msgfmt -c --statistics -o sl.gmo sl.po
1354 translated messages.
Uuuuup-to-date! ;)
Thanks!
-
Last update for rc8. Improved a translation here and there.
-
[~/aMule/amule-dev-cvs/po]$ make sl.gmo
rm -f sl.gmo && /usr/bin/msgfmt -c --statistics -o sl.gmo sl.po
1354 translated messages.
up and running! ;)
thanks!
-
Here it is...
-
[~/aMule/amule-dev-cvs/po]$ make sl.gmo
rm -f sl.gmo && /usr/bin/msgfmt -c --statistics -o sl.gmo sl.po

IUHOOO! That's the first complete translation we get :)))
LOTS of thankys Gusar!

NOTICE to any potential Slovene translator:
I'm doing a complete revision of the Slovene translation (from the current CVS version) because I found too many errors to list and some are too horrible to mention. :) I will have the translation finished by the end of the next week.
-
NEW TRANSLATION (REVISION):
OK, here it is, the complete revision of Slovene translation of aMule, plus added translations of previously untranslated strings. Now you can release a new final version, hehe... :D
@Gusar, if you're reading this: please pay more attention to Slovene grammar next time you edit this PO file!
[for PO file see the post bellow]
-
"FINE-TUNED" SLOVENE TRANSLATION:
@Gusar & I made some corrections, hence this new version of PO file to be included in the new aMule 2.2.0
-
Here it is, the update for 2.2.0
@Typhon: Protocol Obfuscation sem prevedel kot v eMule, torej kot "Maskiranje protokola" in "maskirana povezava", ker se mi zdi, da najbolje opiše za kaj se tu gre. Če imaš boljši predlog, reči. Drugače pa, ti maš več izkušenj s prevajanjem, torej preveri novosti in povej, če sem kje pisal bedarije.
-
Committed, thanks a lot.
-
Some minor corrections (UPDATE!!!)
Here is a review for the Slovene translation of aMule (based on @Gusar's update) to be included in 2.2.0 version.
@Gusar: Sem pregledal celoten prevod in naredil le drobne spremembe (ugonobil kakšno slovnično napako, ipd.), nič večjega. Mislim, da je tale prevod kar kvaliteten (eden izmed bolje prevedenih Linux programov). :)

@all:
There is an issue, where in some places the same string is used in English, but Slovenian would require different strings. Gettext has a solution for this, contexts (http://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/manual/gettext.html#Contexts). Would it be possible to resolve this using contexts, or is it too much hassle?
@Typhon:
#: src/ServerListCtrl.cpp:92 src/PrefsUnifiedDlg.cpp:154
#: src/muuli_wdr.cpp:2073
msgid "Files"
msgstr "Datotek"

-
Updated the translation.
I think something like "context" should be possible, could you please explain the problem in English?
-
The first issue is with the string "Files". It is used as a category in the options window and as a column in the server list. The correct translation for the options window is "Datoteke" which means "Files" in general. For the column, the correct translation is "Datotek", which is short for "Število datotek", meaning "Number of Files".
The second one is "Download". In the options window (in the Connection category), it is used as a noun and the correct translation is "Prenos dol". But the same string is used as a verb when you right-click on a search result with the meaning "Download this file". The correct translation in this case should also be a verb, which is "Prenesi", as in "Prenesi to datoteko".
These are off the top of my head, there could be more.
With a context, you write something like "Options|Files" and "Serverlist|Files". The context part is not visible in the actual app, but it allows translators to translate "Files" differently for each case.

Gettext has a solution for this, contexts (http://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/manual/gettext.html#Contexts). Would it be possible to resolve this using contexts, or is it too much hassle?
Unfortunately as of version 2.8.7 wxWidgets does not support contexts.

Here is the updated PO file for Slovenian language. Translation is not yet complete (I translated all fuzzy strings and some new ones).
-
Thank you for updating your translation, your work is much appreciated. :)
-
Attached is the updated Slovenian (sl) translation for aMule 2.3.1

Thank you for the update! Committed.
