Ok, ok, rc6 is on it's way and will be amazing (specially for Mac users, but for every other user too).
On the last days, while last bugs found by the testers are on find&kill stage, we also implemented AICH, the new corruption-handling algorythm used by eMule on the 0.44x series. That means much less corrupted parts, and much more recovery on that.
On a side note, corrupted part.met files are not discarded now, but aMule tries to keep the file, even when the name is lost.... is all we can do.
It's also fixed that stupid startup bug when people had to remove .aMule or .eMule folder/file to be able to start aMule again after met file corruption. Not anymore.
Mac users have all GUI bugs that I'm aware of fixed, and also the misc bugs (enter a server, click on icon to download server.met, start button on searchs, etc.
It's fixed also the bug that sent void chat messages to people under weird circunstances (wooops).
and MUCH more. That's just an example of what I did on the days since I got back to the project after my forced holidays, and I assure you that the aMule team has been working hard too. All of it.
I.e., Xaignar rewrote hashing thread to a much lighter version, got rid of cryptopp dependencies implementing the needed parts of it on a file used by aMule, with permision from the Crypto++ coder, and is completely reworking search dialog. He also reworked the download/upload/etc lists to double buffer them (no more flicker!) and lot more.
Phoenix did a great bunch of work. basically great bugfindingandfixing work, improving comamndline options and general usage of the misc apps (amulecmd, amuleweb, etc) and lot of work on wx2.5.2 and wxCVS versions compatibility.
lfroen got us all surprised by near finishing the core/gui separation. Expect a core/gui separated aMule 2.0 final not very far away...
Thepolish (efe) managed to do all unpleasant work like compiling the win32 version and fixing it, improving the stats. app (wxCas, Xas,, etc) and aLinkCreator, and did the evil work of collecting the translations from forums into the cvs :)
We cannot forget Hetfield, the man that is centered on making gcc 3.4 compile aMule, something that always amuse me. (and he gets to fix it!)
And LOT, LOT, LOT of more people, sorry for those left out but it's 04:35am and I have to work at 9am :)
We aim to bring you the Berst Quality on this release, as with rc5.
I'll try to get people to update changelog so we can show you some more greatness before we release ;)
Hope this brainstorming of news fills the void created by the delay on the release... expect it... er... soon? ;)
Forgot to say: you can always get a CVS tarball (check download page) to see how rc6 will be like.
Feel free to drop by #amule on irc.freenode.net and ask any doubt about the cvs tarballs, it's generally a good idea to ask a developer which cvs tarball is good for download. Try to catch me, or any other dev.

Amazing! Can't say more than that :)

The wait is worth!
RC6 will be, I think, a bigger MileStone than rc5
And what that means I needn't to explain or?

For those who do not visit the irc channel, is it possible that you recomend a cvs tarball??

CVS from 14 Sept 2004 works fine here. Last CVS (17 Sept 2004) has some strange behaviours (at least it did this afternoon) so I wouldn't recommend it right now.

Sure, it's the latest CVS but I have been running it for 4 days. time-wrap, is called. Not to say the one from 14/09, being run for 4 days 18 hours, would be running tomorrow, not today :P
