Im not a geek or a programmer so i dont know how to compile or what fink is.
is it possible to make an installer for this so more users can try it and lmk the programmers know how it works??
-
No. I'll do it as soon as I can, I'm very busy ATM.

Thanks so so much for all of your hard work, I've been following along since March I think! I agree that an installer for Mac would be so wonderful, I've done some minor programming but am not a developer or a pro like you guys are so I'm always a bit leary I may mess something up and not know quite how to fix it! Thanks for thinkin of us Mac people! Yeah Apple!!

Try that :

That's what i've compiled. That must works...
-
Thanks so much for posting your compilation! It's much appreciated!! I tried it and it starts, but then crahses... any ideas?
-
Well, I'm working hard on Mac bugs to get them fixed for rc7...
I think your crash must be related to the but on updating server.met?

It was nice of you to post your build, pick, but I don't think it will help the average non-techy Mac user. It relies on wxMac having been built and installed into /usr/local/lib.
On another thread (http://www.amule.org/amule/thread.php?threadid=3591&sid=#post18945) I posted adjustments to the build instructions which compile wxMac as a static library that gets linked into the aMule binary. That way users won't have to have it installed into their system.
Unfortunately, I don't have any place to post downloads of my own, or I would put up my own statically-linked version. I'm sure people would appreciate it if you could rebuild with static linking and post that.

I think you may be right, but I'm not positive, it crahes right after starting, when the download window is open and it's starting to download, so close!! I tried compiling myself the last release and it just never worked, gave up after 6 hours, learning a lot from all of this though!! I'm patiently waiting for the next release and as I said am VERY much appreciative of all of your hard work!
Thanks,
Blythe

I've just made such an image. This is the first time I use aMule, so before I post the dmg, I just want to be sure it is ok: is it normal that there are no menus, only toolbar?
Besides that, I think the image is ok. I fixed all the libs with install_name_tool.

Here is an image:
http://ptex.no.sapo.pt/amule-2.0.0rc6.dmg.sit
(link broken, see next post)
If it doesn't launch, please do the following:
* Place the program on the Desktop.
* Launch the Terminal from Applications>Utilities
* In the Terminal type:
~/Desktop/amule.app/Contents/MacOS/amule
and press Enter.
* Copy what the Terminal answers back (probably complaining about a missing lib) and send it to me.
Thanks for testing it.
I'll wait for some users testing the image successfully before posting this in a thread of its own.

Sorry, the image had to be removed. I just noticed that there's a bug on rc6 that makes it crash under osx while getting the servers.met.
As soon as rc7 is out, I'll make a dmg of it and place it in the same link.

Here it is!

Test it please! If it doesn't work, use the instructions
here (http://forum.amule.org/thread.php?threadid=3872&sid=) to get some info and send it to me.
