Hi,
I just uninstalled my old amule and wxGTK, and I am trying to install the wx-GTK 2.5.1 with amule-2.0.0-RC5.
I am using Fedora Core 2 Linux. I did look at the help WiKi page and follow the instructions in section " Installing using RPMs". BUt I have some problems:
Here are the rpm packages I have on my ./root/dowload/amule/ :
aMule-2.0.0rc5-1.i386-FC2.rpm
libcryptopp-5.2.1-1.i586-FC.rpm
ibcryptopp-devel-5.2.1-1.i586-FC.rpm
wx-base-devel-2.5.1-1.i386.rpm
wx-gtk-2.5.1-1.i386.rpm
wx-gtk-devel-2.5.1-1.i386.rpm
when I do step 1,
install wxGTK ->
* as root:
o rpm -Uvh wx-gtk-2.5.1-1.i386.rpm wx-gtk-devel-2.5.1-1.i386.rpm
I got these error messages:
error: Failed dependencies:
wx-base = 2.5.1 is needed by wx-gtk-2.5.1-1
libwx_base-2.5.so.1 is needed by wx-gtk-2.5.1-1
libwx_base_odbc-2.5.so.1 is needed by wx-gtk-2.5.1-1
wx-base-devel = 2.5.1 is needed by wx-gtk-devel-2.5.1-1
Would somebody help me fix these problems? Is that mean I need more packages?
Thanks

i don't know where u got the wxgtk rpms, but for sure not from our dl page..
the fc2 aMule rpm you have (from our dl page) required (our) wxgtk 2.4.2 and wxbase 2.4.2 rpms .. ;)
cheers

The place I got those wx-gtk is came from another "too many connections" post,
http://biolpc22.york.ac.uk/pub/2.5.1/ (http://biolpc22.york.ac.uk/pub/2.5.1/)
in that post, somebody mentioned to link the wx-2.5.1 with amule2.0.0-FC5, which wx-2.5.2
have bugs which show a lot of "too many connects"(as I understand).
So I got the wx file from that link.
I tried to download more packages, here are what I have now:
aMule-2.0.0rc5-1.i386-FC2.rpm
libcryptopp-5.2.1-1.i586-FC.rpm
libcryptopp-devel-5.2.1-1.i586-FC.rpm
wx-base-2.5.1-1.i386.rpm
wx-base-devel-2.5.1-1.i386.rpm
wx-gtk-2.5.1-1.i386.rpm
wx-gtk-devel-2.5.1-1.i386.rpm
and I did these:
# rpm -Uvh wx-base-2.5.1-1.i386.rpm wx-base-devel-2.5.1-1.i386.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
1:wx-base ########################################### [ 50%]

1:libcryptopp ########################################### [ 50%]
2:libcryptopp-devel ########################################### [100%]
# rpm -Uvh aMule-2.0.0rc5-1.i386-FC2.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libcrypto.so.0.9.7 is needed by aMule-2.0.0rc5-1
libssl.so.0.9.7 is needed by aMule-2.0.0rc5-1
libwx_base-2.4.so is needed by aMule-2.0.0rc5-1
libwx_base-2.4.so(WXBASE_2.4) is needed by aMule-2.0.0rc5-1
libwx_gtk-2.4.so is needed by aMule-2.0.0rc5-1
libwx_gtk-2.4.so(WXGTK_2.4) is needed by aMule-2.0.0rc5-1
I am at this step now, is there anyway to fix it?

..even if u install those wxgtk 2.5.1 rpms, u can't install our aMule rpm (another libs)
u'll have to ask the guy who posted the links, where to get the missing rpms, and compile amule yourself after

I did removed thoese wx-GTK and wx-base 2.5.1 packages after I read your message,
And I go to the help page, follow the steps described there exactly,
I have the following packages:
aMule-2.0.0rc5-1.i386-FC2.rpm
libcryptopp-5.2.1-1.i586-FC.rpm
libcryptopp-devel-5.2.1-1.i586-FC.rpm
wxBase-2.4.2-1.i586.rpm
wxGTK-2.4.2-1.i386.rpm
wxGTK-devel-2.4.2-1.i386.rpm

Did I do something wrong, even I follow the instruction carefully?

May I ask what a ssl is, and how to check the version, and which I should have for installing the amule?
This is what I found upon google:
The Secure Socket Layer protocol was created by Netscape to ensure secure transactions between web servers and browsers.
Thanks!

well since you are on FC
check with
rpm -qa | grep ssl
and check in your package manager taht you have ssh daemon for example installed, since ssh daemon needs ssl and if it would not be there it would install it...

This is what I got from checking:
# rpm -qa | grep ssl
openssl-0.9.7a-35
docbook-style-dsssl-1.78-3
openssl-devel-0.9.7a-35
do I miss anything? THanks

Hi!
I'm the one who built that rpm, so maybe i can help...
And I go to the help page, follow the steps described there exactly,
I have the following packages:
aMule-2.0.0rc5-1.i386-FC2.rpm
libcryptopp-5.2.1-1.i586-FC.rpm
libcryptopp-devel-5.2.1-1.i586-FC.rpm
wxBase-2.4.2-1.i586.rpm
wxGTK-2.4.2-1.i386.rpm
wxGTK-devel-2.4.2-1.i386.rpm
The wxBase RPM is surely not the one from wxwidgets.org, i don't know where you got the wx rpms from, but please use the rpms from wxwidgets (http://www.wxwidgets.org ) and everything will run as expected.
# rpm -Uvh wxGTK-2.4.2-1.i386.rpm wxGTK-devel-2.4.2-1.i386.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
1:wxGTK ########################################### [ 50%]
2:wxGTK-devel ########################################### [100%]
# ldconfig
# rpm -Uvh wxBase-2.4.2-1.i586.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
1:wxBase ########################################### [100%]
# ln -sf /usr/bin/wxgtk-2.4-config /usr/bin/wx-config
# ln -sf /usr/bin/wxbase-2.4-config /usr/bin/wxbase-config
# ldconfig
That whole bunch of ldconfig/symlink stuff is completely unneeded if you're using the fc2 rpm and wx rpms from wxwidgets.org.
# rpm -Uvh libcryptopp-5.2.1-1.i586-FC.rpm libcryptopp-devel-5.2.1-1.i586-FC.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
package libcryptopp-5.2.1-1_fc2 is already installed
package libcryptopp-devel-5.2.1-1_fc2 is already installed
# rpm -Uvh aMule-2.0.0rc5-1.i386-FC2.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libcrypto.so.0.9.7 is needed by aMule-2.0.0rc5-1
libssl.so.0.9.7 is needed by aMule-2.0.0rc5-1
The above files are from the package openssl-0.9.7a-35.i386.rpm which is part of fc2. That means - install openssl and the error should be gone. I will add openssl to the list of deps for the amule rpms, so that next time someone wants to install aMule, he/she will be noticed that openssl is missing.
libwx_gtk-2.4.so(WXGTK_2.4) is needed by aMule-2.0.0rc5-1
This is rather strange, because that file comes with the wxGTK-2.4.2-1 rpm and should be no problem.
Again - please uninstall all wx related rpms on your system, get the rpms from wxwidgets.org and install wxBase-2.4.2 and wxGTK-2.4.2. Then try to install aMule again.
