Title: aMule 2.0.0 rc7: first impressions
Post by: ptex on October 20, 2004, 12:38:09 PM
Hi:

I just finished compiling and lauching aMule 2.0.0rc7, so I'd like to share my first impressions:

* It compile out of the box, with the correct configure switches. Mine were:
Code: [Select]
./configure \
    --enable-embedded_crypto \
    --disable-systray \
    --disable-gtk \
    --without-gtk \
    --without-x

* I decided to share my iTune folder. It has over 4GB. It made my system crawl while it was hashing all the files. It took a long time (I have a 500MHz G3). I launched amule from the Terminal, so I saw the progress. If I had launched it from the GUI, I wouldn't know what was happening, and I'd think the amule is very slow. So my suggestion: add some kind of indication that amule is working on the background hashing files.

* I am downloading 2 files, with lots of spurces, but the download doesn't start. I'm behind a firewall, with a low ID, so it might be my fault, I don't know. Search works fine though. I'll set up a dmg file for downloading soon.

ptex: ye, having a LowID sucks, that's how the network is designed. Configure rputer to be able to have a HighID, otherwise, don't expect optimum downloads ;)

about a dialog to advise about hashing, i agree :) that's a good thought. I'm looking forward for the dmg, btw...

Greetgins!
