Here are some icons for the aMule toolbar. Mostly ripped from Gnome. The search icon is not very good IMO but they are surely better than the current ones. ;)
(No offense, but the current icons are not cohesive: some have black contour and high contrast, some have no contour and low contrast.)

some day, hopefully not far from now, skins will be supported for aMule ;-)
as for now, untill the skins support features isn't implemented (hopefully soon), the icons will mostly remeain the same, since they are no priority ;)
But please keep those pics and as you may some near day want to publich your own aMule skin! :)))
Greetings and thanks!

Ok, you are the boss, but... what kind of logic is that? ?( The fact someday you will implement skins is not a reason to keep the current icons until then. 8)
Since changing the icons would only take 5 minutes of coding, you could still use them, until you implement skins.

You say these icons were ripped from gnome. What license are they under?
-
Gnome is free software, amule is GPL, so we should not worry about licensing. Unless I am missing something...
-
I added 9 new icons, because I found some nicer ones. There is more choice now. Please take another look: http://onefinger.sourceforge.net/icons-amule/

There's quite good reason for keeping present look. The reason is consistensy. However, if amule would support skins - you can use whatever icons you want.

This issue looks easy to fix in graphic editor :)

Consistency with what? ;( Those are almost the only icons is aMule...
If you are referring to the preferences dialogue, say it and I'll find some appropriate icons for it too. Cheers :))

Yes we should.

icons can be under any other (or none at all) license and still a free (open) project use them. This doesn't allow other projects to use them. A free license does, any other might not.
So it's somethign to worry about ;-)
Greetings and good job!

Unless you know the rules that the Gnome project sets for artwork licenses and can rule out that the license only allows those images to be distributed with gnome, then we need to check it. And in any case, we should ask permission from the creator before using that persons work.

Too... uh.... gnommish for me.

It's aMule ... not gMule ;)
But i've got to agree ... the current icons are not what you say ... fancy ;)
But on the other hand ... why take time in new icons when skin support is coming up 8)
