Title: Problem with amuleweb and amule in general

Hey guys,

I'm quite new to Linux.

I installed aMule 2.0.0_rc7 on my GentooX System.

Problem #1:

aMule is running but when I enter amuleweb or amuled in my shell it only returns
amuleweb
bash: amuleweb: command not found

Do I have to compile any extra files to get it running?

Problem #2:

I'm connecting to my GentooX System with my Windows PC and VNC.
It's not possible to work with aMule because the aMule GUI is too large for my desktop because I can only use a resolution of 800x600 in GentooX.
That's why I want to use amuleweb to controle amule with my Windows PC.
Is there any possibility to turn the resolution of the VNC Server to 1024x768 so that I can see something in the aMule window?

P.S. yes I have read the fucking manual and the Webserver HOW-TO but I think I'm too dumb for all this so I need a little explanation *g*

you haven't installed/compiled amuleweb. I have no idea how the Gentoo way is, but from aMule's tarball, amuleweb is installed with --enable-amuleweb in the configure script. something like:

./configure --enable-amuleweb

about VNC, nfc. check VNC's manual, sorry. i never used vnc :(

well what do you mean with tarball?

can I simply use the makefile in the /webserver directory or has anybody got any idea how to install aMuleWeb on Gentoo?

tarball: the official .tar.gz package
tarball is the sources itself, not th ebuild
ebuilds are sources packaged in an easy to use gentoo way.

after talking to sLiCeR\ at IRC, he told me there's no way to compile aMuleWeb from the official gentoo ebuild package, so the only thing you can do is compile from the amule.org .tar.gz tarball. sorry

I'll search for a manual how to compile from a tarball and post if it worked.

there's a specific USE in the ebuild, "remote"

did you try a "emerge -pv amule"?  :rolleyes:

install hard-masked wxGTK 2.5.3 instead of "stable" 2.4.2-r3

with wxGTK 2.4.2 you need wxBase and gentoo ebuild does not give that to you...
and I still wonder why no gentoo dev simple places teh link in there...

but anyways..
