Title: Strange Story : Lost in Connection
Post by: Guest on November 27, 2004, 12:25:15 AM
Once uppon a time, there were an 1.2.6'aMule running correctly, from time to time, since more than a year, on a permanetly switched on linux server.

And what happened ? It's around 2 weeks that this old'aMule can't connect anymore. Does my mule got any disease like thoses mades by prions...?
Anyway, my queen Mule can't keep on saying that no Server wan't to serve her. And she said :

2004-11-27 00:34:59: Disconnected
2004-11-27 00:35:23: Connecting to ChezToff (Serveur Fr) (213.186.60.106:4661)...
2004-11-27 00:35:23: Connected to ChezToff (Serveur Fr) (213.186.60.106:4661)
2004-11-27 00:35:24: Connection established on: ChezToff (Serveur Fr)
2004-11-27 00:35:24: New clientid is 33253452650
2004-11-27 00:35:24: Lost connection to ChezToff (Serveur Fr) (213.186.60.106:4661)
2004-11-27 00:35:24: Disconnected
2004-11-27 00:35:24: Connecting to DonkeyServer No1 (62.241.53.2:4242)...
2004-11-27 00:35:24: Connecting to ### SauGeileGirls ### (81.23.250.167:4242)...
2004-11-27 00:35:24: Connected to DonkeyServer No1 (62.241.53.2:4242)

Nobody knowses, the trouble I've seen! Ho, my lord ISP:
don't let me down, don't filter me damn!

Let's spend the night together and see what's goin'on.

I must sing or I'll mess things.

Another way of explication : aMule is full of fruity holes.
And because the nature don't like it, thoses are filled with junky things.
After that, I let you try to rebuild your aMule-1.2.6 to see what's different.
Or test a win'client to be sure of your ISP's policies.
Tell me how it's going.

Just have to clean  my Incomming folder!
Indeed ethereal shows, from the server dialog connection :
ERROR: zlib MUST be used, not only advertized

So eMule 1.2.6 've got 2 messy problems with zlib :
1) it's not used @ the server negotiation  connection.
2) don't display any final server connection error message.

Don't miss it on your next version...
Thanks for answer, but I dont see why I should upgrade till it's on beta.

amuleuse.

Why not upgrading to 1.2.8, if you want to stay with stable releases? It was released exactly to fix THOSE bugs.
You cand download it from http://developer.berlios.de/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1296&release_id=2942.

Why don't we have this on OUR download page?

because we don't develop 1.2.x versions anymore and because since 2.0 rc6 amule is a stable version for linux too.

the only thing we do with 1.2.x versions right now, is to tell our users to get rc7  :P ;)
