This is done to avoid local tampering with credits, since it would offer no advantage to a client if it were to manipulate the credits it itself has recorded locally.

(I use imac G3 350 Mhz and 320 MB Ram)

Do you mean "I heard that they patched it and it should be working okay," or do you mean "this has been going on for a while now and I would have expected a patch to be made." (No comments were made to be sarcastic, only inquisitive).
