There is no work to do in aMule, our interface is done using wxWidgets. So if wxWidgets supports GTK 2.6, which to me is pretty obviius it will, aMule will run on that too.
Btw, which distro has it yet? Maybe gentoo?

wxgtk 2.4.2 (which is the current stable release) doesn't support GTK2, the current development branch (2.5.4) does support it. Anyway there are still some bugs to hunt on memleaks when using GTK2. I have just tested this some days ago and got more than 100MB memory usage in ~20h when using wxgtk linked against GTK2...

no problem here, i use wx-cvs with gtk2.6....
so just compile wx against your gtk2.6 and try yourself
