Title: Problem with lib... SOLVED
Post by: TheRotten on March 12, 2005, 05:32:14 AM
Hello!
I'm new to linux and I found aMule, I'd like to use it but when I try to run it it give me this error:

Code: [Select]
amule: error while loading shared libraries: libcurl.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I searched on the forums and found that I needed to edit some ID_LIB_WHATEVER thingy ... and I don't know how ... could anyone tell me?

thx!

sure, well whatever distro you are one there is a package manage system, so you should just use it to install curl :)
pretty simple :)

well looking at your OS system under your avatar and then seeing you search for
libcurl.so.2
I guess you took the wrong fc rpm :)
since fc3 has
libcurl.so.3

and NOT 2 ;)

maybe you should recheck our download section...and check if you have the right rpm ;)

I know... its a n00b question but ...
how can I uninstall a software? ... lol
I can install the FC3 version cuz its older... and I cant find the amule folder to get to the uninstall file ...

:)

you can look at the software which is installed in rpm based systems with

rpm -qa

and a grep helps you to shrink the list so for amule

rpm -qa | grep amule

should list you the name of the amule-rpm installed

after that

rpm -e Name_of_the_rpm

that should erase it ...

after that take the right, fc3 rpm and do
rpm -Uvh aMule.....

that will install it,

btw: since it is a really commen problem on fedora systems can you plese post what
rpm -qa | grep wx

lists?
thnx, I am just trying to avoid problems ;)
