Title: ed2k is not a recognised protocol
Post by: fcr on January 06, 2004, 08:51:49 PM
Dear all,
In another life I used to go on http://edonkeygoogle.fr.st to easily find links. By clicking on a desired file it was linking with my emule software and would start to download (or queue)

I just tried to do the same but the message appeared : ed2k is not a recognised protocol!

for info I am using Galeon 1.3.8

thanks

Sure there is a way for galeon (GREATEST BROWSER OF ALL TIME). As you are using Galeon 1.3.8 I suppose you working on Gnome 2.x. So have a look at Applications -> Desktop Preferences -> Advanced -> File Types And Programs. Go down to Internet Services (just that you find it later on) and add there a service with Add Service ... Enter some description, Protocol:ed2k and Program: ed2k "%s". Be sure you have the ed2k program on your system. Try by checking with "witch ed2k" in your favorite shell. Happy downloading

http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/Ed2k_links_handling <- check it. But galeon is not supported. My personal suggestion: swtich to firefox ;-)
Greetings!
