Title: aMule 2.0.0 Released!
Post by: Kry on May 03, 2005, 04:16:27 AM
(http://www.amule.org/amule_newlogo_dark_notextfuzz.jpg)

We've come a long way since 2.0.0-rc1 (more than 1 year ago!) to this 2.0.0 final version. I won't tell you all that we achieved on this time - I don't want to to burn your hamsters scroll wheel  - so I'll stick to the highlights of this release, the links to sources, and the link to changelog.

Before we proceed to that tho, I want to please request your attention over a guy whose hard work made it all possible, and the sad fact that not much people knows him. This release is dedicated to Timo Kujala, tiku, the guy that ported the eMule 0.26d to linux all by himself, creating "lmule", and so the God Of Coding we all praise.

This release is for you, Tiku :) We hope to have reached what you dreamed when you started lmule.

Highlights:

Now for sources:

http://download.berlios.de/amule/aMule-2.0.0.tar.bz2
http://download.berlios.de/amule/aMule-2.0.0.tar.gz
http://download.berlios.de/amule/aMule-2.0.0.zip
http://download.berlios.de/amule/aMule-2.0.0.rar

Packages will, as usual, follow as soon as the packagers are ready. Expect the usual packages and also the new packages for Mac and Windows. Get them from our download page (http://www.amule.org/files/files.php?cat=18).

And now the Changelog. I know we have a tradition of pasting here the full changelog, but you know, took me hours to write it on wiki and on the actual file, so here you have the wiki link:

http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/Changelog_2.0.0

We want this release to be the best rocking one we ever did. What do you think?

:baby: Congratulations amule people. I downloaded the src for 2.0 final release, ran configure, make and then copied src/amule to /usr/local/bin. It all took about 2 minutes. Of course it worked perfectly. You guys are so good it's getting boring. (Just joking but I'll keep trying the cvs's for a challenge.)
Once again, thanks for the great job.

Congratulations, I'm yet to try it because I need to get wxWidgets 2.6 compiled still, but I'm sure it's not much different than the CVS version I'm using which is quite stable too.

You made it people! A big thanks to everyone of you, this release rocks!!  :D

P.S.: To celebrate the new release i tried to make a donation but it seems i need to register with paypal, it asks for an email address and to create a password, is this needed? cant i just make a donation without having to create an account with them?

Title: UHU Linux packages released
Post by: GonoszTopi on May 04, 2005, 01:17:37 AM
UHU Linux packages released for 1.1 and 1.2. Be sure to download the packages corresponding to your UHU release.

Download them from:

--- 1.1 ---
wxwidgets: http://www.amule.org/files/download.php?file=70
amule: http://www.amule.org/files/download.php?file=68

--- 1.2 ---
wxwidgets: http://www.amule.org/files/download.php?file=71
amule: http://www.amule.org/files/download.php?file=69

For both versions, wxwidgets is distributed together with the wxwidgets-dev package, in a single .tar.bz2 file. Uncompress it, install wxwidgets, install amule, and enjoy  ;)

If later you want to try compiling a CVS tarball, install the wxwidgets-dev package, remove amule, and go ahead.

Have fun!

deltaHF made this wxGTK-2.6 rpm with checkinstall, so it is an "all in one" package, not nice but does the job.

Hi from an angry Mandriva user..... :(

An advice...to avoid this trouble with all the creation of RPM's for different distros, gentoo installers, etc....why don't you just use an universal package system like Autopackage? ( http://autopackage.org/ ). I've just tested it installing "Inkscape", and "Gaim" under Mandriva 2005 LE, and it works like a charm (i'm not going to download any Gaim rpm's anymore :D )

you have produced about 1GB traffic yesterday with the amule 2.0.0 rpm :D

See instructions to add my repository: http://ftp://mandrivauser.de/rpm/andyrtr/readme

Thank you for the release.
Continue your good work, i'm looking forward to see kademlia supported.
BTW: How do you think about supporting something like USS or NAFC?

I just hope remote gui for windows is released soon (i mean real soon.. not the usual "soon") ;)

the 2.0.1 is absolutely great! i was using 1.2.8 because i couldn't manage to make it work under gentoo, but now i found a way, and the difference is enormous! much less cpu usage, no crashes, the web interface, wow! good work  :D
