hi,
can you please tell me where to find these. I am still a noob and I searched for the libs in yast ->software->search. (suse 9.2)
some of the others I was able to find. with -ihv --force also able to install the wx packets.
so please, please in newbee language :D

You should not install a Fedora Core 3 rpm on a SuSe 9.2. You better wait for the Suse 9.2 package.

U probably need glibc-devel.
p.s. if u really want to learn about linux try gentoo. U maybe switch after that to any distribution u like but in 2 days you will learn more than a month with madrake/suse/fedora.

please, no bullshits
you can learn with every distro, and you can find very competent people with fedora and too many idiots "omg, I'm going so fast with -O9 -mmake-all-faster-than-light" in gentoo
also, about your "competence" ("U probably need glibc-devel.") --> if you don't know what you're talking about, just shut up
libstdc++.so.6 is provided by gcc-3.4, and a c++ program compiled with gcc-3.4 links to that library, while c++ programs compiled with gcc-3.3 link to libstdc++.so.5
apparently, fedora packages are compiled with gcc-3.4 while suse 9.2 packages are compiled with gcc-3.3
these two versions of libstdc++ are binary incompatibles (so the change of major version from 5 to 6), and messing up with those libraries can cause serious troubles... @supergirl: just wait for a package built for your distro, with the correct toolchain and against the correct versions of libraries

thx for your answer.
i've been using suse for some time already (you can see under my avatar that I'm registered here over a year)
the problem is that I make long breaks between really using suse, and I forget what I've learned. It is quite frustrating and it is fact that not many linux-profs, even though they all want linux community to grow, have enough patience with noobs. I kind of give up and try after a couple of months.
Of course I should be embarassed that I tried to install fc3 on suse, but actually I am not, at least I'm encouraged to do something with my suse once in a while.
I returned to my book and notes to "refresh" my memory a bit and I hope that I will stay with linux this time for longer.

why should you be embarassed? if now you know why sometime you can install fc rpm on suse and why sometime you can't, you learned something useful
