Hi! I'm running amule 2.0.0rc8 on my Fedora Core 3 system. I'd like to know how to update to amule 2.0.0 final without losing my downloads/settings/preferences/credits...
any help is welcome :D
-
well no problem at all
download new rpms from dl page and do
rpm -Uvh aMule...
since your settings and everything importand is stored under /home/user_name/.aMule/ nothing gets lost, dont worry about it :))

Well, i tried what you adviced, but I get this error:
file /usr/bin/amule from install of aMule-2.0.0-1 conflicts with file from package amule-2.0.0-0.rc8.3.1.fc3.fr
What is it? :D
-
-Uvh not -ivh
sp rpm -Uvh amule...this will upgrade your package
-
Well, that's exactrly what I'm doing:
[root@localhost skorpio]# rpm -Uvh aMule-2.0.0-1.FC3.i386.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
file /usr/bin/amule from install of aMule-2.0.0-1 conflicts with file from package amule-2.0.0-0.rc8.3.1.fc3.fr
any clue?
-
remove the old package
rpm -e amule-2.0.0-0.rc8.3.1.fc3.fr
-
yup...and dont worry, your settings and so on are save in your homedir ;)
-
save == safe 8)
-
hopefully... so I'll do it and I'll tell you if it works... otherwise I'm gonna kill you all
-
Ok, it didn't work :| When I try to launch amule, i get this error:
"Your local has been changed to System Default due to a configuration change, sorry."
That's all. after that, aMule just shuts down... ?( ?(
-
can you run it in a terminal and tell me what it gives you?
-
Ehm... was this what you asked for?

ehm... I trust you but I must admit that I don't see the point. I mean, amule 2.0.0rc8 worked just fine with that stuff...
And what will assure me that all the other programs using those libraries will go on working?
i'll tell you, I'm reinstalling amule2.0.0rc8... thank you :-)
-
then the rc8 rpms where NOT from OUR dl page...
because overwise it would NOT have worked...
-
Uhm... well, I got them from apt-get :-)
Anyway, in a couple of days a suitable rpm from apt will be available, I guess :-)
-
maybe.. :)
problem is fedora folks build it against their "patched" wx-rpms
but those patched wx-rpms dont work with an amule-rpm which was build against the "clean" wx-rpms from wxWidgets
-
Oh, now I see. Hope it won't take too long for them to release a suitable rpm... i'm looking forward to trying the amule 2.0.0 final :-)
