I just installed the 2.0.0
And now, during 5 minutes, amule takes 15-20% of my CPU (the rc8 wasn't taking all that CPU), and after those 5 minutes, amule takes 100% of my CPU, GUI is blocked, and I just have to kill amule...
So, waiting for another version, can I get back to the rc8 please, and where could I dwnload it? Thank you.
-
amule doesn't do it without any reason.
does it hash some files? do you have the verbose function enabled?
is it amule and wxgtk from our download page?
cheers
ps. all files are on berlios or sourceforge
-
How can I enable the verbose function?
I only found that :
Usage: aMule [-v] [-h] [-i] [-geometry ] [-d] [-o]
-v, --version Displays the current version number.
-h, --help Displays this information.
-i, --enable-stdin Does not disable stdin.
-geometry: Sets the geometry of the app.
uses the same format as standard X11 apps:
[=][{xX}][{+-}{+-}]
-d, --disable-fatal Does not handle fatal exception.
-o, --log-stdout Print log messages to stdout.
No it doesn't hash files, as I shared no new files. I just launch amule, and wait. And each time (I tried 10 times now), about 5 minutes after the launch, amule takes 100% of the CPU... :(
I took aMule-2.0.0-1.i386-wxGTK-2.6.0-FC3.rpm and wxGTK-2.6.0-1.i586-FC3.rpm from your download page.
Thank you for your answer.
-
nono, verbose can be enabled in your preferences. and it should be disabled .. so never enable it ;)
-
Ok.
Could it be the "Source dropping"? (in Preferences -> Source dropping). My source timer is set to 240 (4mn) and "send source to any other file before dropping". It's said it needs a high CPU...
Was that option in rc8? I don't understand what means this source dropping, so I don't know what option I should choose...
-
yes, it was there too..
what it is should be in our wiki.
well, u could first test a bit around what causes the high cpu usage (when verbose is disabled)..
first of all, how much dl's do you have?
does amule freeze without any part files too?
-
I didn't find it in the wiki page. :(
I found in the wiki : "Preferences"->"Core tweaks"->"Verbose log": On old wxWidgets versions (prior to 2.5.4), verbose log filling the servers log causes high CPU usage. Disable it.
But, there isn't any "verbose log" at this place... Anyway, there is very few things written on the aMule Log, then I think verbose isn't set.
I changed to "drop sources"... I'll see.
-

does amule freeze without any part files too?
>> I don't know, I'll try, ok.
-
btw, we have amule-2.0 for fc3 based on wxgtk & wxbase 2.4.2 in our dl page. you could try it out
-
Ok, it's not the source dropping.... I just have the 100% CPU fault...
I go for the no download part.
-
I already tried the wxgtk & wxbase 2.4.2 with the 2.0.0... It was crashing at the loading of aMule. That's why I installed the wxgtk 2.6 version...
-
yes, because you used amule rpm which requires wxgtk-2.6.0 ;)
we have another amule rpm there
-
I already tried wxgtk & wxbase 2.4.2 with the 2.0.0. It was crashing at the very startup of aMule. That's why I installed the wxgtk 2.6 version...
-
No no, I was using aMule-2.0.0-1.FC3.i386.rpm and wxGTK-2.4.2-1.i386.rpm and wxGTK-devel-2.4.2-1.i386.rpm and wxBase-2.4.2-1.i586.rpm
-
and the forum is there for posting such crashes ;)
-
Sorry. I had problems also to upgrade from rc5 to rc8. I thought it was my fault, then I tried all your rpms before posting in the forum. One worked, I was happy.
And now, I'm sad.... ;)
-
No no, I was using aMule-2.0.0-1.FC3.i386.rpm and wxGTK-2.4.2-1.i386.rpm and wxGTK-devel-2.4.2-1.i386.rpm and wxBase-2.4.2-1.i586.rpm
and like i said , we have another amule-2.0 rpm for fedora core 3 ..
-
He hey. My Temp directory is completely empty. aMule was connected to razorback, as usual. No transfers... And.... CPU to 100 % !!!!!!!!
;(
-
The other is aMule-2.0.0-1.i386-wxGTK-2.6.0-FC3.rpm. It's the one I'm using...
Are you speaking of a third one? Because I can' find it....
-
That's very interesting. some server packet might be hanging aMule.
-
I would be very happy to help. What could I do?
aMule seems to hang always at the same time. Are logs or errors written somewhere?

you mean this one ^^

I don't understand anymore... :)
First, I installed aMule-2.0.0-1.FC3.i386.rpm, wxGTK-2.4.2-1.i386.rpm, wxGTK-devel-2.4.2-1.i386.rpm, wxBase-2.4.2-1.i586.rpm. aMule was crashing at starting. I installed, desinstalled the rpms multiple times, and it was always crashing.
After that, I installed aMule-2.0.0-1.i386-wxGTK-2.6.0-FC3.rpm with wxGTK-2.6.0-1.i586-FC3.rpm. And it works (I means, I have the GUI), but aMule works well only 5 minutes. After that it hangs (taking 90-100% of the CPU), the GUI doesn't answers anymore. Now, I think I tried 20 times, and each time, same problem.
I haven't changed anything of the linux kernel. I use FC3 as it was first installed.
-
Am I the only one to have this problem???? ;(
-
hm, which server are you connected to?
-
razorbak
-
well, would be good to know the output of the crash on startup with the other amule.
cheers
ps. we are trying to find the 100% CPU reason
-
Ok, I went back to rc8. Here is what I did :
[root@Greg greg]# rpm -e aMule
[root@Greg greg]# cd Logiciels/
[root@Greg Logiciels]# rpm -e wxGTK
[root@Greg Logiciels]# rpm -Uvh wxGTK-devel-2.4.2-1.i386.rpm wxGTK-2.4.2-1.i386.rpm wxBase-2.4.2-1.i586.rpm aMule-2.0.0rc8-1.i586-FC3.rpm
Préparation... ########################################### [100%]
1:wxGTK ########################################### [ 25%]
2:wxBase ########################################### [ 50%]
3:wxGTK-devel ########################################### [ 75%]
4:aMule ########################################### [100%]
[root@Greg Logiciels]#
rc8 works fine (GUI, I didn't wait more than a few minutes). I installed 2.0.0 for wxgtk 2.4 then, as you asked :
[root@Greg Logiciels]# rpm -e aMule-2.0.0
[root@Greg Logiciels]# rpm -Uvh aMule-2.0.0-1.FC3.i386.rpm
Préparation... ########################################### [100%]
1:aMule ########################################### [100%]
[root@Greg Logiciels]#
And, it works...................................................... Sorry, it seems like I made a mistake........... My fault................
-
hehe well.. so check now if it hangs ;)
-
20mn... It seems like it doesn't hangs. And the CPU stays at 1-3%. :)
Will you want me to try back the version with 2.6 wxgtk?
-
no, not needed right now ;)
-
yes
-
25mn, and still ok with the wxgtk 2.4 version. I installed the wxGTK 2.6 version :
[root@Greg Logiciels]# rpm -e aMule
[root@Greg Logiciels]# rpm -e wxGTK wxGTK-devel
[root@Greg Logiciels]# rpm -e wxBase
[root@Greg Logiciels]# rpm -Uvh wxGTK-2.6.0-1.i586-FC3.rpm aMule-2.0.0-1.i386-wxGTK-2.6.0-FC3.rpm
Préparation... ########################################### [100%]
1:wxGTK ########################################### [ 50%]
2:aMule ########################################### [100%]
[root@Greg Logiciels]#
Cool : it's really really faster (the GUI launch and the connection to the server) ! :)
Bizarre : in the "preference window", there isn't "debugging" at the end of the list on the left of the window as it is in the version for wxgtk 2.4... ?? (I have screenshots if you want)
15mn, and it hasn't hanged............. ???????? Am I mad? I hope I didn't bother you for nothing... I may have badly installed the rpms...
-
Ok, it just hanged.... 20mn I would say...
-
I just tried a second time (with the 2.6 wxgtk version). It's hanged after 20 minutes.
I install the 2.4 wxgtk version. Perhaps I hadn't waited enough when I tried it :
[root@Greg Logiciels]# rpm -e wxGTK aMule
[root@Greg Logiciels]# rpm -Uvh wxGTK-2.4.2-1.i386.rpm wxGTK-devel-2.4.2-1.i386.rpm wxBase-2.4.2-1.i586.rpm aMule-2.0.0-1.FC3.i386.rpm
Préparation... ########################################### [100%]
1:wxGTK ########################################### [ 25%]
2:wxBase ########################################### [ 50%]
3:wxGTK-devel ########################################### [ 75%]
4:aMule ########################################### [100%]
[root@Greg Logiciels]#

I'm experiencing exactly the same thing since this afternoon
amule 2.0.0 with wxGTK 2.6.0 worked for mew without problems since the release
-
we are looking for the problem.. give us more beer :P
-
now it seems to work again, uptime: 44:00 minutes
I'm confused
-
Ok, it seems to work well with the 2.4 wxgtk version. aMule has been working for 1h30, and no hang.
The problem is then only with the 2.6 wxgtk version.
Anyway, thank you very much for aMule, it's great !!!!!!! And another thank you for the FC3 rpm !!!!!! :)
-
soon 2.0.1 ;)

I don't think so, I'm still with wxGTK 2.6 and now my amule uptime is 1:49 hours

what was the problem? I'm curious
-
I don't understand it. My first ever run of the 2.0.0 client had been up for 9 days just about, and then it started doing exactly this, 100% cpu and hanging. And it does it every time now!
I'm upgrading to 2.0.1 and I'll let you know.
[edit] 1 hour later, all is ok
