I just recently started to use amule on my mac (i have 10.3.9 installed). I have read the wiki help about firewalls, and as my icon is yellow and i am not connecting to any sources. I am terribly sorry to ask people of this, but I really do not understand what that help article is talking about. If someone could tell me how to disable my firewall or set it up so that i can download files-it would be much appriciated. I am sorry I had to ask this stupid question, but I really am new to amule. I have a homewifi if that helps AT ALL lol. I also know that i have a netgear ADSL gateway-and i have no idea what that means.
Anyway-thanks so much-i can't wait to get started using edk2 network!

1st you can read this thread
http://forum.amule.org/thread.php?threadid=6361

so maybe you can get some usefull information out of it ;)

read the manual of your netgear adsl modem. there should be a section on hwoto setup a server(most often they do this with webservers as example) in the handbook.
read that part and apply it to the 3ports amule needs, 4662/tcp, 4665/udp and 4672/udp,
hope that helps

okay i read my manual and it helped a bit-but it just talked about how to allow sertain things and all general stuff. I just want to be able to download stuff. I don't care about the risk now-ive been trying to figure this out for the past 6 hrs. I just want someone to tell me exactly what and how to set the preferences on my DG824M Wireless ADSL Modem Gateway. Like what exact services i should set etc. I really don't know what im doing wrong.
I guess i have been confusing myself with portforward.com
This is what i did that is not working for amule: I set my ip to out of range, and my range did not have the default ports. Then I set a service with tcp/dcd(orwhatever) and put in the same ports i ahd in amule. THIS IS KILLING ME! plz help
thanks so much tho-the manual... it did help a bit.
