Title: source numbers
Post by: pitchxytr on June 04, 2005, 11:02:25 AM
i'm just a little curious as to what the source numbers mean.  i mean why have source numbers if it's not going to download? and why 3 numbers??  i'm willing to concede that aMule's downloads cycle but what's up with the weird source numbering?

for example one of my files being downloaded have the numbers: 13/28 + 4 (0)

just wondering ...

i read the FAQ and got a little confused.  i mean it's like saying, "yes! u found 17 million sources of this file! but you're downloading from only one person so it'll take u 4 days :P"  is this because depending on the server ur on it has rules?  i just thought it was interesting...

cheers~ :))

Well, your big thumbs down icon associated with the topic made it seem like you were complaining.

The reason for the "complexity" of the numbering is because of the underlying complexity of what is or can be known about sources.  The possibilities include:You sound like you think you're the only person downloading files over the ed2k network -- like you expect to immediately be downloading from every source known to you.  There are other people out there.  Sources can only service so many at a time.  You have to wait in line for your turn.  Life is harsh in this big bad world -- and in the ed2k network, too.  ;)
