Hello,
I currently use amule-2.3.2-svn.x86_64 which works great (except for minor problems). I try to migrate to my new system (openSUSE Tumbleweed) where I have installed aMule-2.3.2.20200131.c0c28234a-1.2.x86_64. I use the same folder for aMule data (i.e. settings, temp files, and so on).
The problem I have with this new version (or some dependency) is that when I stay within one desktop, I can click over aMule window, open preferences. But once I switch to another desktop and get back to aMule I cannot work with GUI any more, and when I do the switch again I see only outline of the window, and the white space inside.
So basically desktop switching causes GUI freeze (at least it looks this way). If this is any help I noticed in konsole, that after starting aMule I see not only info about picking up temp files, like for example:
2020-06-02 16:52:17: SharedFileList.cpp(333): Adding file /home/xxx/.aMule/Temp/106.part.met to shares
but after that I have message saying:
(amule:15889): GLib-CRITICAL **: 16:45:14.695: Source ID 2126 was not found when attempting to remove it
I don't know if this is related or not, I just noticed it.
If I can only provide any helpful input, please let me know what I should check/do.
Thank you very much in advance.
Cheers,

What do you mean switching desktop? Gnome -> xfce -> plasma....?

I am not sorry for not being clear -- switch desktop. Let's say I am on desktop no.1, I execute here amule, I switch to desktop 2, and switch back to desktop 1.
This is not about multiple monitors, Linux Desktop Managers have such features as multiple/virtual desktops, so you have one screen and can switch between several desktops.

So virtual desktops. on which desktop-manager?

KDE 3.5.10 in both cases, i.e. currently running fine, amule-2.3.2-svn.x86_64, built 2014-12-02 and the one that freezes -- aMule-2.3.2.20200131.c0c28234a-1.2.x86_64.

Sorry for the delay, but why are you using that old software? This setup is that old, that I don't think anyone here has a possibillity to reproduce or investigate that.
-
I understand, thank you for the reply.
As for "old" software. Should this be a factor at all? I prefer old, robust software than new, unstable for example. And in case of KDE3 I simply didn't find at least equally good new replacement. I will migrate to Trinity in future, but I don't think it qualifies as "new" :-).

It seems that trinity has some modified qt with it, I'm pretty sure the problem comes from routines that evolved and never have been tested for compatibility with this version. A good rule of thumb is debian/stable. With anything older than the software there, it's most likely not tested.

Ok, I have some more input. I updated entire system (Opensuse Tumbleweed), everything, so it is up to date. Then I run aMule testing it in two desktops -- KDE3 and XFCE (for comparison and to avoid "too old" tag), the behaviour is the same and it is not really relevant to desktop/workspace switching but rather UI manipulation.
aMule initially works just fine, but once I see this error in terminal:
(amule:15889): GLib-CRITICAL **: 16:45:14.695: Source ID 2126 was not found when attempting to remove it
The GUI becomes unresponsive (frozen), it does not refresh (so when I switch desktop/workspaces it is blank on return).
