Running Tiger, on the wireless network (Apple Exreme Main Base, extended by apple Express Base), Wanadoo, Livebox rooter.
Been running amule perfectly with High Id all the time.
Do not know what happened, but suddenly got Low Id with this message:
"Error: TCP port 4662 is unavailable. Make sure your firewall or router is allowing/forwarding this TCP service port and your ED2K client is running (i.e. aMule, eMule).
Detailed Error Message
TCP Error 111 Connection refused
Explanation
The port is available for connections but a connection was refused meaning there is nothing listening on that port. This most likely means you can use ED2K but your client is not currently running. Try running this test again with an ED2K client running to make sure you can really establish a connection. No info available; this TCP error probably indicates a problem with the networking on your system (i.e. the TCP/IP stack)."
I understand, that I should set up static IP, but when I try I do smth wrong and the whole network goes down... :(
the DHCP gives me IP address as 10.0.1.3.
I have to admit I am a total moron with these issues and all the helpful links I looked into did not work with my feeble mind..
Please, help
Thanks in advance

yep thats a known prob...not only with wireless network
http://forum.amule.org/thread.php?threadid=6606&sid= (http://forum.amule.org/thread.php?threadid=6606&sid=)
Apple has integrated some stuff in the update of tiger (10.4.1) so that Amule can't argue with ...nobody of amules developer know why...because its on Tigerrelated and they don't know about the cause
:/ So I'll downgraded to 10.4.0 and Amule works!!! Just insert system cd and keep your Users...
Another solution hasn't been found yet :(

Would you know any site with the step by step "setting static IP"/Port Mapping/ Forwarding instructions for MAC Tiger reluctant users?
Would appreciate it.....

try to set an higher port then 4662....I set 8690 and wokred fine for me.
got ports forwarded? and try to test it on testport-page (http://www.amule.org/testport.php) and report if it's usable
I got no webpages in mind for port mapping or forwarding
you're using the 2.0.3 precompiled binary from amule.org right?
Your 4662 port is not reachable. Please review your network config.
This prob has nothin to do with your old prob on 10.4.1 :))

Yeh, tried that, and changed the ports setting in my router...
No luck

yes, precomplied one...
I just do not get it -- why I suddenly have all these crap coming, if I had a high Id for a month already???
I figure there is that DHCP problem with IP adress... Oh, poor me... I guess I will have to try and set the static IP somehow... Or just stay with low id for a life time. It is on 17 and higher on the download rate.. I can live with that I suppose :)
But tell me -- what do you have in settings on your network pannel -- did you set the static IP yourself? I have two Macs connected by wireless.. I just have the instinct there is smth wrong with me network and amule :(

my local adress is static yes...look at this:
pretty as normal
all is manually set
ip
subnet
router and dns server..
that should it be :]

Can I try one more question:
My Base station config prog (Airport Admin) set up IP address format as 10.0.1.1.. When I try to change it into 192.168.... the network dissappears.. So I am a bit confused -- can I set static IP with my given format?
It is pretty late in Germany ,heh? I am in France :)
-
sry, ghibli but I don't got so much knowledge about Airport's working system or its settings
what is your Router-adress? normally when you're connected to the internet, you should already have a static ip...to let it static u can enter it manually in networksettings.
so I also don't know which device the IP 10.0.1.1 belongs to

Thanks anyway!
I will try to search the french forums!
The only difficulty is that there aren's many frenchmen with Macs around :))
