I know this is probably very low on the dev's priority list, but amule's GUI looks horrible on every single platform it supports (I tried v2.0 on Windows, Linux and OSX. It even looks horrible with the cute Aqua widgets of OSX!) Its GUI simply pales in comparison to its Windows-only cousin, which is one of the best looking program I have seen.
Fortunately, amule's network support is excellent (almost on par with emule) and the separation of core and GUI would help immensely in this. Personally, I think Java or Python would make it a lot easier to write a good looking GUI. Other than these options, the devs should also consider switching to QT4, which has been released under the GPL for Win32 as well as Linux and Mac OS X.

well since core/gui is seperated you can feel free to write your own gui...

Things not to do on a post, part 1:
a) Flame the work of the developers.
b) Start comparisons with other apps (almost on par with emule!) without data th back it up.
c) Sugest a programming language to write a GUI (wtf?)
d) Pretend the devs are dumb and don't know the best framework to work with.

Besides the code :] you can read docs/EC_Protocol.txt in any cvs tarball of aMule.
Cheers and good learning!

I know it's not too much, but we're too busy coding to write nice docs. 8)

quaqua: did you bothered to search the forum before asking question that has been answered at least 3 times ?
Summarizing:
1. We have remote gui in case you looking for working example
2. EC protocol may not be fully documented, but pretend to be code, so "use the source Luke"
Other than these options, the devs should also consider switching to QT4
3. We consider. So you consider this: what if QT5 will not be GPL anymore, as php did ? TrollTech is commercial organization, they do what brings money, not sympaty.
4. Please, don't flame. I mean, unless you come out with something better - no "you suck" please.
