Title: Amuleweb - no password
Post by: Captain Goodnight on August 07, 2005, 10:01:40 PM
Hi all,
I need help for a strange problem: actually i using amule 2.0.3 and amuleweb on a Powerbook with Macos 10.3.9, i can enter the program using a browser for remote control. The problem is the PASSWORD! If i click connect or press the Return taste on the login page without insert the password i cant enter, if i try to insert the password, the login is denied without error codes.
I tried to change settings and manually modify the config file without results. It's normal?
Before the Macos X version i used a Linux version (2.0.0.rc8 on a FC1) without problems.
Thanks

How did you do that? In plain text? Passwords are stored as md5sums in the configuration files, please take a look at the webserver howto in our wiki on that: http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/Webserver

I modify the password in config file, first insert the md5sums of amuleweb connection's password, last digit random characters, but nothing change. It seems the program not using this settings.

Which config file are you modifying?

How are you launching amuleweb?  Are you launching it manually, or letting aMule (or amuled) launch it automatically?

If you launch amuleweb manually, then it uses ~/.aMule/remote.conf for its configuration file, and that determines the password it requires for login.  If you let aMule or amuled launch it automatically, then it uses ~/.aMule/amule.conf for its configuation.

If you do not have a remote.conf file, you can have amuleweb create one based off of amule.conf with the following command:

amuleweb --create-config-from=~/.aMule/amule.conf

That only needs to be done once to create the initial remote.conf.

I'm having a similar problem while using amuleweb with php... password doesn't work... I've setup editing the amule.conf file and also using the client to set  it... strange....
