Title: queue rank prediction

Hi,
I think it will be useful to have a kind of prediction how much time it would take to andvance from your current rank to first position. This could be done by measuring the time between rank changes - for example for half an hour I have advanced from 200th to 100th rank, and half an hour later dropped to 150th - so the speed of advancement is 50 positions per hour.

With the help of this prediction one should know how much time it will take to complete the precious last part of the file they had been downloading for a week :)

Such prediction would be misleading at least. What if that client is simply gone ?

Not to mention that you dont always go down the queue, you may even go up, ie. going from 12th to 20th.

Queue progression is too dynamic to predict.

Well,it might be misleading,but isn't the time till finish also misleading ?
Doesn't also the speed of download change up and down ?
That's why it's called prediction - it's not a 100% sure

People can misunderstand it so we would get many angry posts about leecher clients.
Instead of this I would integrate a better file download time calculation. Actually it only calculates the possible download time when there is an active download. But it can measure how much time it take to download x MB. It would not be perfect but better than now. And the result is the same like your feature request beside your one is more detailed.

MrFaber: your idea suffers from same thing - it produces unrelieble number. Have you seen such timer let's say in Firefox (in download window) ? This counter only valid when you actually downloading, i.e. speed > 0.
Same thing here: let's say we have 10kb and current speed is 1kbps. We can say for sure that it will take 10sec to complete. This number is relieble considering current speed. If instead, we will take in account that this file has been interrupted 10 times, and thus put instead of 10sec, say 30sec - this number is no longer reliable.
Not reliable number means nothing to user and should be avoided where possible

I described nothing new, just the feature which is integrated in eMule since some time. The calculation starts after some percent are downloaded, so it is not as inaccurate as you describe and much more accurate than the current algorithm.
