Hi everybody, i'm running 2.0.3.,and i'm connected through a LOW ID network.
With this version I easily reached the abitual download speed, but something strange began to happen too often:suddenly download speed enhances to 4-5 times the "normal", then reduces to 0, and goes up again. At least once in the download display appeared the names of unknown files for a few secs ,and frequently, during the speed peaks I hear this beep-beep alarm from the unit (full buffer?).
Can somebody help me to understand what's happening?
-
beep beep from the unit?
Did you check your CPU temp?
-
No.;(
How can I do it? ?(
-
Open your PC, take a raw egg, and put it on the CPU (make sure that the fan does not throw around too much of the egg). Then take the time until the egg is fully cooked. If this takes less than 45 seconds your CPU is getting too hot.
Alternatively, you can either search your favorite software tracking page for an appropriate app ("monitor CPU temperature" is typically a good search term) or tell us your operating system so somebody can recommend an app to you.
;)

when you reboot the system you can alos check in the bios the cpu temperature,
but it would already be cooled down about since rebooting is not a lot of stress

1. the cpu doesn't cool down in 2 or 3 seconds (same with toasts out of a toaster)
2. bios creates 100% load on the cpu, as it doesn't sends any idle-commands.. (not 100% shure about that)
-
it does not cool down in 2-3 secs but it cooles down in 5-10secs about 10° from doing heavy cpu work and doing none...and I dont know what mashine you have but mine takes at least 5secs to reboot....
and bios does definelty not put a lot of load on the cpu,
as an example: think of laptops, when heavy cpu usage fan goes on, if no cpu usage fan goes of

well, put the reset button and then quickly the del-button and in the bios you are ;)

yeah, that's the powermanagement of the OS, it sends HTL commands to the cpu. modern OS' do this as standard, but you might remember this app from the old win9x times: http://www.woundedmoon.org/win32/cpuidle301.html
i highly doubt that a bios uses any special features of the cpu at all...
And sorry for beeing off-topic ;)

Ok, thanks to everybody. The operative system is Linux, and the distro Suse 9.1.
A too hot cpu can alone explain the clinical picture, or just the beeps?
The beeps can be activated by other events,or just by this one?
-
peeps and strange performance can be explained by dozends of reasons.
do you got any peeps if amule isn't running?
-
no
-
no... not this kind, however:the normal beeps when booting.
-
dont you have a manual for your board?
usually there is a section what which series of beeps is good for....check troubleshooting or something
-
Thanks, Stefanero! I will look at the board's manual and hopefully learn something. However, when this happens ,closing aMule everything stops .
-
hm, do you have a soundcard at all? probably some software is generating this beeps (no idea why though), e.g. windows uses the peeper for sounds if no soundcard is installed.
just if you don't find anything useful in you manual...
-
nothing on the board's manual (Asus). Of course I have a soundcard...
