I used to run amule on my imac, and I never had any big problems.
Yesterday, I updated both mac os (10.4.3, by the way, that fixed "stuck connection" pb) and Amule (CVS rev.5448). Download is fine, but when I launch previews via VLC, this message appears :
"../wxWidgets/src/Mac/corefoundation/utilsexc_base.cpp(100):
assert "cfurlCurrentFile" failed.
Do you want to stop the program ?
You can also choose (cancel) to supress further warnings.
Whatever I clic : "no", "cancel" or "yes", Amule crashes...
Is it just me or..? ?(

Ugh. Crud. It's a bug in wxWidgets. It can't cope with files that have spaces in their paths. Unfortunately, the new location of the aMule configuration directory on the Mac ("~/Library/Application Support/aMule") has a space in it. I'll try to get a fix in place for the next release. In the meantime, here's a workaround: change the location of your Temp directory to a path with no spaces. See this post (http://forum.amule.org/thread.php?postid=36731#post36731) for instructions for changing your Temp directory location safely.

Uhmmm... well, thanks dude.
But it seems that doesn't work. By the way, which one is the right directory :
"Home - .amule"
or
"Home - Librairy - Application Support - amule" ?
I moved the files into another folder ( "new1" ) but when restart amule, it keeps sayin' "this is the 1st time you run amule blabla" and creates a new virgin amule Temp folder ! Also, I changed preferences, redirecting to the current downloads folder ( "new1" ) but it doesn't boot...
I wish I was Jef Raskin. :(

Oh... I was thinking, should I remove the new directory from the "App Support" location. I mean, THIS is the folder with a space in its name right ?
So, for example : "Home - NewWorkingLovelyAmuleFolder" ;)

You can't change the location that aMule uses for its configuration directory. I was suggesting that you change the location of the Temp directory, which may be changed using aMule's preferences. I even gave you a nice link to a post with directions. :P

OK, so I see that the post I referred you to was based on the old behavior of aMule and so references "~/.aMule". In the last couple of months, aMule has been changed to use "~/Library/Application Support/aMule" for its configuration directory. So, keep that in mind when reading the post I linked to.
Also, I was directing you to just the specific post, not the whole thread. If you read the surrounding thread, it will probably just be confusing. :)

Gosh.... whata silly-Duck.
Of course.... just the "Temp" folder. It was soooo easy though.
The usual "joys of computing" routine.

So, the wxWidgets folks finally committed the fix for this bug. So, wx-cvs should now work. I expect that the next Mac aMule binary that lionel77 builds will incorporate the fix.
-
Too bad that they broke compilation at the same time... ;)
I was going to post a new binary before I leave on Tuesday, but now it looks like I won't have enough time to test even if they fix their CVS soon.
So you can expect a new binary some time after Sunday.
