What the hell do all these numbers mean ?
Shouldn't 1 or maybe 2 numbers be enough ?
What else do I need to know other than the number of users sharing the file ?
I wish aMule was a *real* Mac software.

Thanks.

First number: number of sources you are connected to
Second number: number of sources, connected or not
third number: number of sources you asked another file

I wish some users would not try to enforce their simplicity feeling on others. I woudl also love users to have some politeness, not to mention I would like users to read the EXTENSIVE info we have on wiki before asking stuff.
Let's make it simple. What about NOT showing you the users at all? Why would you want to see them, you should only see if the file is downloading or not! No, wait, that's not even needed. What about just showing if the file finished or not? Nah, nonsense. Just show nothing. you can check if the file is on your incoming folder!
C'mon, let's be serious. There's a limit for interface dumbness.

Ok.
Second number: number of sources, connected or not
Why would I not be connected to a source ?
If I can't connect to a source, why keep it ? I don't even want to know about it.
third number: number of sources you asked another file
Is that any useful information ?
How about the 4th number ?

I can't find it on the wiki, and I shouldn't have to read a 200 page wiki to know what a Sources field means anyway.

Having too many numbers doesn't tell you anything neither.
Knowing the number of users I can download from is ENOUGH.
I don't even care about how many sources I am downloading from, can be from 1, 2, or 3, what is the difference for me ? I don't want to know about it.
I just want to know if I'll be able to get the file quickly, so I delete it or not.
That's ALL I can do anyway.
Keep the file, or delete it.

Open wiki.amule.org
Click on "FAQ on aMule"
Click on "What do all those numbers in the sources column in the transfers window mean?"
3 steps. And you can't find it on the wiki? No wonder you are pissed of by 3 numbers. Too much compexity makes you nervous obviously.
-
You can hide the column if it really bothers you that much.
-
Fourth number: number of sources you are currently downloading from
Why would I not be connected to a source ?
If I can't connect to a source, why keep it ? I don't even want to know about it.
Because you could be connecting, or may be the source's queue it's full at this moment, but amule will try to connect later.
Extra information doesn't hurt, but if you don't like it, you can ignore it. However someone could find it interesting.

Well I guess Linux users will never understand that less is more.
Nevermind.
-
Well I guess YOU (because I will not talk about Mac users) don't understand that even if YOU dont' care about or don't understand the numbers, A LOT of people understands and need them.
You know, YOU are not the center of the universe.
-
I think advanced stuff should be available in the preferences, but not the default configuration.
Anyone who NEEDs to know how many sources you asked another file, raise your hands.

Actually, that is quite incorrect:
$ sha1sum /bin/more /bin/less
fb7169b9a130dd11e4c7c06e4f8180c7907683a8 /bin/more
6d4d826254ab83b0ecad81a7963fa82e64f3c6f3 /bin/less
As you can quite clearly see, less is not more.
-
I do raise my hand.
And you'll find a lot of people that raises their hands. Because there are options, WIDELY USED, to swap sources from one file to another, depending on which one you might want to have one specific source.

Stupid Mac users. 8o :P
