It is the second time it happens, with both amuled kad only and amuled hybrid
after 2/3 hours i get kad disconnect and in php-default (tab kad statistics) i see the numbers of contacts dropped to zero, restarting the client does not help to get kad functionality up again, i need to boot a nodes.dat
i think that it did not happen with the older cvs
-
IWH.
To be exact, after 4 horus, I have 920 nodes, and no disconnection...
-
See here the logfile:
....
2005-12-28 02:09:44: Connecting client: amule-remote 0x0001
2005-12-28 02:09:44: Access granted.
2005-12-28 02:10:05: External connection closed.
2005-12-28 02:45:42: Connected to Kad (firewalled)
2005-12-28 02:45:42: Connected to Kad (ok)
2005-12-28 04:11:56: Disconnected from Kad <- i was sleeping!!
2005-12-28 11:31:56: Disconnected from ED2K <- shutdown of the amuled by me
....
After amuled restart.. kad reconnected ok.
ps. amuled cvs 27122005 x64

still happens to me, and yes restarting the client allows to get kademlia connected ok
probably the first times, when i need to boot a nodes.dat to run kademlia again, there was some other problem
i have another issue with amuleweb running with amuled on a remote pc, after 3/4 hours of use if i try to display kad stats (php-default interface) using the browser on the local pc, amuleweb crashes on the remote one, it happens only trying to display kad stats tab, every other tab works without problem, and it happens also if i restart amuleweb with 'nohup amuleweb -q &'

Today Kad worked for me.
It reached up the 900+ contacs and stays there... amuled is on from 8 hours...
Sometimes the bug appears, sometimes not.
cvs 27122005 x64

Today kad didn't worked for me.
After 2/3 hours the number of contacts drops to zero, and the log says (kad disconnected).
I have to restart amuled.
How can i help to discover the bug?
-
Do you have a router?
-
yes.
adsl router/firewall. I fix the ip address of the machine with amuled and then open the tcp/udp ports to that ip.
-
I blame UDP congestion on the router.
-
The router is Netgear DG834
It worked for months with eMule.
Viewing the graphs of the number of connections it shows a line up and down around the 900 connections. After a while (and not always) the line stops going up and down, stays with the same number of connection for some time (minutes) and then drops down to 0.
It this status (ed2k running, kad not running), with amulecmd i say: "connect kad" but nothing happens.
In the logfile i find: read 197 contacts... Kad started, but querying the status keeps saying kad not running.
I have to restart amuled, and the in the new logfile i find kad connected (firewalled) and after a while kad connected (ok).

Same thing happening to me and others, too. See this thread (http://forum.amule.org/thread.php?threadid=7841).
I don't really believe in UDP congestion as I don't have that much traffic/connections and one of the more advanced (and expensive) routers (Bintec X1200II). I will check the logs, of course, to see if I can find sth unusual.
But, even if it would be the case, it should be able to reconnect again.
-
i also have a router (linksys wag54g) that always worked well in the past with amule ed2k centralized network, with mldonkey (tons of connections, a lot a sources asked for position queue every 10 minutes) and with overnet pure client (serveless network based on kademlia with a lot of udp traffic)
-
CVS20060116 still has the bug.
After 1 day or less (typically when I come back home at night) the CVS of the day before is disconnected (kad).
-
still working here :)
-
Kry, are you perhaps continuously downloading files? If so, just stop downloading and just leave aMule for uploading only. Say for about 24 hours, that should be plenty. Usually I see a Kad disconnect after 12 hours with no downloading activities.
If I download continuously aMuled usually crashes after a couple of days, but Kad stays connected.
-
Kad stays connected... after crashing? ;)
-
Yeah yeah, wrong order of words: Kad stays connected *until* amuled crashes :)
Anyway, my first point is: It is my observation that Kad disconnects when there is no download activity for a few hours. I don't know if anybody can confirm this since I figure that most people are constantly downloading.
And the second point is that it is impossible to reconnect using the "connect kad" command in amulecmd or on the GUI. Perhaps you can look into this, if there is some time.

@vdb
I can confirm both points. I wrote some similar ideas in another thread several weeks ago.
I normally have few (rare ones with few sources) or no downloads at all and keep amuled running for releases mostly.
