Title: emule HighIDl, amule lowID ?
Post by: xdsl.mac on December 23, 2005, 07:20:17 PM
yeah, yet another ID question. but i havn´t found a solution to this one so far.

I´ve had emule on my win XP machine and had a high ID (using non-standard port TCP 22). now on MAC OS X 10.4.3 using amule i just get a low id. I´ve no router (well except from my xdsl-modem) and no firewall (osx firewall is not activated). what´s wrong? It shouldn´t be the modem or the ISP, cause with win/emule the config still gets an high id!

any suggestions?

(internetconnection is xdsl (VPN -PPTP) )

On most Unix-like operating systems (including Mac OS X), normal user programs can't allocate the well-known ports (those below 1024) for themselves.  Only privileged programs (running with superuser privileges) may allocate those ports.  So, aMule can't use port 22.  Try another port above 1024.
