Title: My internet is so slow! What can I do?
Post by: slayer on December 26, 2005, 01:35:24 PM
Hi

We all know that problem, when someone says, that "My internet connection is so slow while I am running aMule"...

The Problem seems to be that the packets, which amule generates, have almost the same priority as the packets from every other program.

But what could I do? Setting the priority of every packet which leaves the computer through port 4662 lower? Or should I give all the other packets a higher priority? I've read something about QoS packet scheduling and stuff like that, but it seems to be quite difficult.

Did someone already find a solution for that?

This is ultimative answer. And it's called QoS. If you know how to configure it - very good for you.

but it seems to be quite difficult.

Because it is difficult. And its very not user-friendly, meaning that nothing protects you from wrong or not-working configuration.
You may search the web for already-made scripts, but beware that QoS configuration depends on your network setup and version of kernel.
Good luck anyway.
