Title: Everything done but low id..

Well i've forwarded the ports, my firewall isn't on.. but still low ID. Everything was working fine with the earlier version.

So is there anything else I need to tweak to get things running ok?

Thanks very much for your help on another tedious ID question i'm sure.

You'll have to give us more information about the nature and setup of your network.  But ultimately, the only possibilities are router configuration, firewall configuration, and ISP policy.

Like rob_rd I have 'the low id' problem. The Netgear WGR614 router has port forwarding of 4662, 4665 and 4672 set for 192.168.1.3 which is this iMac running OS 10.4. The ports are as set in aMule Preferences. The Apple firewall is off.

The internet conection is bigpond.net.au ADSL and, as far as I am aware, they do not do any type of port blocking. Or if they do, they don't admit it!

The most common reason for getting a lowID is that the router is not properly configured. To test that there are no problems with the ISP and (potential) firewall software on your computer, it's often helpful to connect your computer directly to your cable or dsl modem (if possible). If you get a highID then, you know that everything else is fine and your router is just not properly configured.

Swapped to the inbuilt Ethernet direct from the ADSL modem and still got a low ID. Maybe then it comes down to the ISP?

Hmm... then it might actually be your ISP. If you are lucky they are just blocking "known" p2p ports. So go to aMule's preferences and change the ports to random values (higher than 1024) and restart aMule.

;( Changed the ports to 10712 and 10722. Tried on both Airport/Router and Inbuilt Ethernet. Low ID on both. Checked firewall off - it is.

Might try on the PC and see what happens but how to explain that to herself?

Damn. I'm starting to run out of ideas. :(

One more thing, though, does your dsl modem maybe have built-in router functionalities?

Not according to its manual and a logon to it does not show anyting that looks to an innocent like me to be a router command set! It is an Alcatel Thomson Speedtouch 530 - the bog standard Telstra unit (means cheapest I suspect).
