Title: root = high id , user = low id
Post by: GaMe oVeR on January 16, 2006, 01:08:13 PM
Here is the problem with aMule.
I get low id running aMule like normal user but high id from root or with su.(i'm using fedora 4)
The ports are open. The online port test says that the port is open but aMule is not running on that port.
I think something is preventing aMule to listen to the port if is running as user but i have no idea of what. Does aMule tries to execute some external files?

Which port is amule listening on?
If <1024, your kernel will not let a normal user to open it.

You are right it's 443.
I changed to that port because my ISP is slowing down P2P programs on all ports but not on port 443.
Is there any way to make the kernel let a normal user open ports < 1024?

Thanks
