Title: managment of sources
Post by: Spacemage on January 22, 2006, 05:23:37 PM
Hello

I have a question regarding the managment of sources for files.

I am downloading very rare files, but I know there are at least 2 people who have those files complete and share it too. The same 2 people have all the files I want.

Problem 1: Finding them as sources for all the files.

When I start aMule I get at least one of them as source for one of the files, but not for all files. Why?

Problem 2: Keeping them as sources for all the files.

When I leave my aMule running for a while they disapear. That can be and does not bother me much, maybe they were disconnected for a while. But when I restart aMule then I get one of them as source again.

So why do I have to restart aMule to find them again and when I find them why does aMule not see that they have all the files and not just one?
So it boils down to how aMule manages sources and remembers those sources.

1) amule (and emule) only queues a client for ONE file, marking it as A4AF on the other files this client has. You can only request one file at a time from a client.

I know that and I would not have mentioned it if the clients where listed as A4AF for the other files, but they are not.

A couple of possibilities: is your client UDP port forwarded by any router you might have and opened in your firewall?

Also, have you enabled the preferences for keeping and saving sources?
