Title: Messages
Post by: baremobius on March 16, 2006, 06:49:45 AM
What does it mean when I get a message with the "username",  and a form phrase or word after a line that states

*** Chat-Session Started: "username" (ipaddress:port#) - 2006-03-15 20:43:53

???
I know a request of some sort has been made, but when I type in a "How can I help you?" reply and send, I know we are not "on the same page" so to speak.

The answer is simple, I know. Please point it out for me so I can quit feeling like a class A moron!

I'm not absolutely sure if I understand your question...

There's a simple messaging system implemented in amule (and emule) which can be used to talk to other clients you're connected to. This feature has been used to send out spam for some time now, either advertising some client mod (which are usually as "good" as anything you can order from spam) or just to tell you some BS (like some client telling you that you are connecting too fast and that you were banned). For that reason we implemented a message filter in amule (preferences - message filter) where you can set some rules of what should be filtered out.

I hope that answers your question, if not it would be nice if you could give me an example of such a chat session...
