Title: aMule 2.1.1 released!
Post by: Kry on March 18, 2006, 03:09:43 AM
Hey, look. It's a new version! 8o

This new 2.1.1 version is a BUGFIX version, STABLE version, based on 2.1.0 and NOT on current development code. This means it has way less features (i.e the support for file >4GB is not included, among with other cool aditions the CVS version has), but it should be way more stable.

The server.met default list is also updated, because as you know, gruk.org is down.
The hability to share folders on Microsoft Windows (tm) is also fixed, along with a lot of stuff you can find on the changelog (http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/Changelog_2.1.1).

Use the links on the main page, to the left, to download the new version. or click HERE (http://www.amule.org/files/files.php?cat=26). Right now, only the sources are available. Microsoft Windows' binary along with the MacOS X binary will be available ASAP. As for distro-specific packages, please visit the distro-specific forum (http://forum.amule.org/board.php?boardid=69&sid=).

Enjoy!

[EDIT]If you downloaded the .tar.bz2 and it doesn't compile using wxWidgets without unicode, please download it AGAIN, as I patched the release to solve that. Blame Xaignar (http://forum.amule.org/profile.php?userid=72&sid=) [/EDIT]

Hey, having at least one major screwup during the release process is almost a tradition around here. :P

I just finished uploading the Universal Binary for Mac users -- you can find it here (http://www.amule.org/files/details.php?file=147).
This version requires OS X 10.4.

I will post a version for Panther users at some point tomorrow (on Saturday).

EDIT:
Now the version for 10.3 users is available, too: http://www.amule.org/files/details.php?file=151

As I say always, we don't have to blame anyone. At least someone makes the effort for release a stable release :)

I don't have to blame anyone. But I like it.

Thanks for this, I'll compile right away. :)

One thing though: Did the .spec file get reversed back to the CVS one? Can you check that?

As I said, this is not from CVS but from a branch based on 2.1.0. So chances are it's the same .spec with version bumped.

I'm not sure whether I understand the question correctly, but there are two .spec files in the archive:

aMule.spec
aMule-CVS.spec

When using "rpmbuild -tb aMule-2.1.1.tar.bz2", the CVS one is used for some reason, so you have to extract the archive and use "rpmbuild -bb aMule.spec".

I uploaded the windows binaries for aMule, amulegui, and amulecmd.

I apologize, I was too hastily and just checked out the CVS spec file.

All is well, compilation went nice, running fine, only it's rehashing all the files. Other then that, keep up the good work!  :)

Nice!
I'm using the FreeBSD / amd64 port, and it is working nicely.
There are some messages about Gtk (see below), but they don't seem to do any harm.

I get a lot of the following messages in the console (xterm) that amule is started from:
Code: [Select]
(amule:92994): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_pixmap_set: assertion `gdk_colormap_get_visual (gtk_widget_get_colormap (GTK_WIDGET (pixmap)))->depth == gdk_drawable_get_depth (GDK_DRAWABLE (val))' failed
(The 2.1.0 version didn't give those messages).

Those are related to the GTK theme, not aMule :)

Kry
Why i can make connection limit less than 25 from user interface?
My ISP limit max TCP connection count to 16.
And when i use aMule i cannot normally load websites.
Now i manulay set connection limit to 10 in amule.conf
but in is not useful becose when i change parameters with user interface connection limit resets to 25.

Please give to users possibility to set any connection limit.
Thanks.

Still a crap.
Like the previous versions. It never connects to any server.
I was hoping this problem got solved i the newer versions cause many mac users have it.
But they did nothing.

What' after you insulted the app? Not gonna happen. Try, i.e., in the Mac forum if someone helps you. I doubt it, with your attitude.

Yay, you solved it yourself. So it was your fault after all.

Second warning. Yay, this is fun.
