Title: amule lost all it's downloads
Post by: tchize on May 10, 2006, 02:08:25 PM
Hello,

I am using amule for a month now on mac os x tiger. I use an apple ibook and i activated the cryptographic storage of home directory (known as File Vault). After a crash of my os needing a hard reboot (i always just send my ibook to sleep), it seems a few file might have been corrupted in my home directory. After a startup of amule, i discovered all my downloads in transfert window have disappeared. However, if i go to  ~/Library/Applications Support/aMule/temp, i can see i still have all of my .part, .met and .met.bak files. What should i do to have amule reindex those and resume transfert.

Thanks.

First step, look for the proper forum :)

Hint: Is not the one labeled "Questions about our board, NOT ABOUT AMULE "

tchize, you might rename the aMule directory in ~/Library/Application Support.  Then start aMule.  It will create a new aMule directory with default settings.  Quit aMule.  Now put the old Temp directory with your in-progress downloads into this new aMule directory.  Also copy over your cryptkey.dat, preferences.dat, and preferencesKad.dat files in order to keep your identity for the credits you've earned with other clients.

Now, restart aMule and make sure it knows about your downloads.  Restore whatever preference settings you've lost.

As a side note, you might also want to consider changing aMule's temp folder to a location outside of your home folder, so that the constantly updated temp files don't reside within the file vault image. This is, however, more of a gut feeling than a well informed opinion... ;)
