amuleweb + dillo
« on: June 16, 2006, 12:36:07 AM »

Hi guys!

I'm trying to use dillo browser instead of firefox or galeon for amuleweb (2.1.3) on my Debian SID, but when I try to login (http://127.0.0.1:4711/login.html), dillo doesn't answer, even if I can still open every other link with it, and I can still use amuleweb with galeon or firefox in the same session (it's not a crash of amuleweb)...

what can I do? Is it just that dillo doesn't support amuleweb, or is it just my fault?  :rolleyes:

this is qhat I do:
Code: [Select]
$ amuledthen, in a new terminal
Code: [Select]
$ ulimit -c unlimited
$ amuleweb -L
offcourse, I've already out the right remote settings from the GUI.

thnx!

Hi giopas!

I've tried with dillo as well and dillo does not crash. But: It doesn't work either.

When I try to log in either nothing happens (Status 'Query sent, waiting for reply...' remains forever) or the following is printed in the amuleweb-terminal:
Code: [Select]
WCThread: Started a new WCThread
WCThread: got read error. closing socket and terminating thread

The same with lynx: It is forever in 'HTTP request sent; waiting for response.'

Whilst I have no problems at all using Firefox at the same time.

It's a very fast browser and it doesn't support JavaScript. But I could use Firefox with disabled JavaScript within a certain scope and for sure further than the login-dialog, thus missing JS shouldn't be the problem - if you consider this a problem at all.

Here is my perspective (without going into debugger):
Firefox - ok
Explorer - ok
Conqueror - ok
Opera - ok (last time someone reported)

dillo - NOT OK. Conclusion: bad dillo. Case closed.

What about lynx? It's sometimes really usefull to check the functionality of amuleweb even though you're one a machine without X. Does it work at your machine?

But I guess due to the very low number of lynx-users it wouldn't be worth the time anyway.

What about lynx?
What about it ? All 4 major browsers works fine. Even browser on PSP and Palm works.
So, I have no idea how does it look on lynx, and I do not care. Doesn't work - don't use lynx.

However, if you think, that amuleweb violates HTTP as defined in appropriate RFC - you welcomed to point to  the issue.
