  • I'm a freelance graphics designer trying to get a grip on webdesign. I enjoy computers and stuff but I'm not tech minded, my main drive is the graphics part of it.
How to assemble part files such as .dmg?

Sorry folks, I know the question is probably pretty dumb but I'm 'new in town', just got my 1st Mac ever!
I managed to setup amule and already dloaded some stuff but it comes in parts (don't even know if that's what they're called really) with extension .dmg and some .rtf (which I know to be text). Now, if you'll be patient, how do I put it all back together? Will I need some apps like Daemon or Alcohol and such to mount images or so?

Your help will be most aprecciated! Cheers

dmg -> see e.g. http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=dmg
But I can't help you with Mac specific things either, sry.

BTW: Moved, there's no relation to aMule.

Thanks a lot wuischke and sry 'bout that; didn't occur to me this wasn't even a specific amule issue, I'll know better next time!

Never mind, it's just that aMule is nothing else but a file sharing software and doesn't care about what files you're sharing or how to use them.

And my job here is to keep things tidy. ;)

BTW: Did you find a solution?

Hi wuischke, I did and the solution was so embarassingly simple that I shouldn't even say it out loud  :D, mac  OS X 10 has got a built in image mounting app which one accesses with one right click ( ctrl + click in this case) on the file and since it was indeed an image file (as I already suspected and confirmed with that link you gave me) that was it! Looks like I got a long way to go with this OS...
