Your client is connecting too fast, it will get banned
« on: January 20, 2007, 08:40:25 AM »

In the top of my screen there is one icon for messages window. A couple of times it has been flashing. One time I noticed, and it said someone is trying to connect, or chat or something (don't remember). Anyway I typed in "hello", but there was no reply. What is it for/about?

And, just now it flashed again, and there was this message there:
 *** Chat-Session Started: Preved MEDVED!!!          (rus)(de)(en)(eng)(ru)(ua) (194.242.102.124:24662) - 2007-01-20 15:59:53
 [15:59:53] *** Connected to Client ***
[15:59:53] Preved MEDVED!!!          (rus)(de)(en)(eng)(ru)(ua): [AUTOMATED WARNING] Your client is connecting too fast, it will get banned

What is that? By the way I made no attempt to contact anyone (either time!) It just started flashing so I went to look at what was going on there.
Thank you!
Justin

It's spam from an ill-behaved client.  You can ignore it.  You can also filter it using the preferences.

Spam is generally for the benefit of the spammer right? WHat benefit do they get by sending me this message?
Thank you

It's simply a client that is wrongly programmed, and it send this message when it thinks a client is connecting too fast (asking for files in too short intervals) but they are safe to ignore, aMule is well-written and does not do that. There is no benefit for the spammer, since I think the user of this software does not even know about his client sending these messages.

Regards.
