ping servers
« on: June 09, 2007, 05:27:26 AM »

hello there,
I've been using amule for a while, now, and some questions still remain.

I'm using amule since ubuntu breezy (ubuntu studio==>feisty, now) behind a DIink router, both highID and KAD are OK but I'm wondering about the E2DK window, column "ping"...

I mean, how is it that I do not receive any feedback about ping to the servers I have in my list (anyway, I understand amule does not have to ping all servers all the time). sometimes it gives a few results, sometimes it does not at all.

This all is about choosing a server with a comprehensive ping, but I get no or mistaken results as I ping the servers myself,

for example, now, I erased and and reloaded a fresh server list but three of them only are giving a result out of more than 100 servers after more than 24 hours uptime

could sbd explain this to me please ?? thx

I think this one is broken, others are getting a ping time of 30 days. ;)

Anyway, there shouldn't be an advantage of a lower latency when using aMule as long as the server has no capacity problems to process your requests.

yep thx for your answer wuischke
I heard and read that being connected to a low ping and large number of files  server was better anyway
so from now on, I will command-line ping the servers myself, just to check...
