Hi there,
I have a serious problem getting aMule running.
I use the latest version of aMule on Mac OS X 10.4.9. I have a good and fast internet connection and I use a DrayTek Vigor2600V router. I've activated TCP and UDP port forwarding for aMule and checked whether the ports  are really free, and yes they are! So I should have a HighID. Instead, I can't connect at all! The only thing that happens is:

007-06-06 16:14:34: Servers: Trying to connect
2007-06-06 16:14:34: Connecting to 58.65.232.25 (58.65.232.25 - 58.65.232.25:12345)
2007-06-06 16:14:54: Connection attempt to 194.146.227.8 (194.146.227.8:4642) timed out.
2007-06-06 16:14:55: Servers: Trying to connect
2007-06-06 16:14:55: Connecting to 209.204.61.176 (209.204.61.176 - 209.204.61.176:4669)
2007-06-06 16:15:00: Connection attempt to 58.65.232.25 (58.65.232.25:12345) timed out.
2007-06-06 16:15:01: Servers: Trying to connect
...

I tried a lot of different servers etc. but nothing happens. I think it could be some kind of firewall, so I put the Mac OS X firewall off. Then I looked to the router. The router has A LOT of very cryptic firewall preferences which I don't understand, so I tried to put everything off, but that didn't work. It's very strange, because aMule finds a lot of servers, and the  TCP/UDP ports are definitely free and right and working, but any connection attempt times out and I don't even get a LowID connection.
Any suggestions would be very welcome!

Are you sure your ISP does not block aMule traffic?

That can be... how can I override that?
Could changing the TCP and UDP ports used for amule traffic solve the problem?

If your ISP is blocking aMule traffic, and changing port numbers doesn't seem to work, then just wait for protocol obfuscation to be complete, and then use it. Or temporarily try using eMule under wine. Or install windows and use eMule.

I found out that my internet provider (T-Online in Germany) does NOT block amule traffic... they even have amule on their download page  :)

Could there be something else going on?

Yes, do you get an error about hostname?

I do get the warning on my solaris build, but it works fine. Why do you think it could be related, Kry? and do you know how to get rid of the warning? (no, hostname is not the trick, since my hostname under solaris works perfectly, and the PC knows its name).

Regards.

I have the same problem on OSX, posted about it last week and got no response.

I get the error about a hostname (detailed in my other post), but I have no idea what or how to correct it. Everything else works fine.

Okay... I see the problem now. I assumed "aMule Help" was the place to find help. I searched this forum too and didn't find anything.

However, the real place is OSX child board of Multiplatform. Perhaps there should be a stick at the top of aMule Help pointing over there???

So, the answer to this question is in the post in the multiplatform board here:
