aMule won't Connect to any Server
« on: December 05, 2007, 01:07:11 PM »

I use aMule everyday, but that's on my regular Mac which is in for repairs so I've decided to install aMule 2.1.3 (for Panther) on an older Mac I have which is only running 10.3.9 and also I'm stuck on 56K dial-up until my other Mac comes back.

I'm sure I've set it up right, but when I open aMule it should connect to one of the servers in the Server List within seconds. Unfortunately it goes through every server in the list trying to connect to each one in turn, but timing out after several minutes then trying the next, etc until its gone through the whole list and then starts over again.

Anyway after leaving it for an hour or more its clear its never going to connect to a server. I presume I don't have to configure the ports as I did on my other Mac since this Mac doesn't have a firewall.

My question is what's preventing aMule from connecting to a server? I'm looking through the aMule log and it just says 'timed out' for every single server its tried to connect to.

Hello!
Could you resolve your problem?
I am a new user of Amule that I installed on my IMAC and it won't connect even if my internet connection  is working very well. The planet on the right bottom of the page has red arrows and it says "not connected...".
If you could get any hints on that, please let me know!
Many thanks.

Quite possibly your server list has only servers in it that don't exist anymore. A lot of the servers have disappeared in the past few months.

Try removing all servers and just put in this single one: ed2k://|server|85.17.52.92|5000|/. It's one of the few that I know of that still is working. If this one doesn't connect, then the problem is in the connection and you have search the board a bit longer to find an answer.

And in general I find that KAD connections work perfectly.

HI VDB,

Thanks for your help! In the meantime I found out that because of my internet connection (optical fiber ) I had to use a specific program called Amule Adunanza. On the Kad Network it is working great but on the servers ED2K I still have a low ID and therefore I don't find a lot. I am afraid it is because of this specific network I have but I'll try further to see if I can manage getting a better ID.
Thanks again a lot!

I have exactly the same problem. I have been running aMule 2.1.3 on Linux KDE fine for months, but for the past week or so it hasn't been able to connect to any server - not ed2k, not Kad, nothing. I tried refreshing the server list, using different server lists, and I've just tried the server suggested above - but still it times out on every connection attempt. Is there ANY way to fix this problem???

Thanks.

Hi,
Same problem here, aMule SVN using wxGTK2 v2.8.4 (1/6/2008) on Gutsy, I think that it is a problem with auto connect on startup, when I click on a Server it connects to, but never works auto-connect or re-connect on loss.

2008-01-07 12:49:40: ServerList.cpp(171): 17 servidores encontrados en server.met
2008-01-07 12:49:42: amule.cpp(806): Conectando
2008-01-07 12:49:42: ServerConnect.cpp(111): No hay servidores vĂ¡lidos en la lista de servidores

For me, it is solved going to "Preferences-->Server" and un-clicking Auto-autoupdate serverlist at startup, now aMule tries to connect everytime to a server.

Happy new year!!!
