amule takes a lot of CPU cycles (regression)
« on: June 26, 2008, 08:24:22 PM »

Another issue about upgrade -- current version is 2.2.1, but for a long time I used CVS 20080206. Previously, sometimes there were issues with CPU speed, now it is simply a rule -- when starting, 100% of CPU (2GHz), when running it constantly switches from 800MHz to 2GHz (maximum).

Of course I am not making exact measurements every day, but I can tell every day, that something is off, because fans work like crazy. I've read another reports and I don't have any usual files (>4GB), I don't download that much, so basically I have the same files I had when using CVS version.

Thank you for aMule!

Same problem.

My litle server (Pentium-S, 120 Mhz, 128 MB  RAM, 40 GB HDD), with amuled-2.2.1 is taking about 20% of CPU speed and up to 75% or memory (near 100% of RAM + near 50% of virtual memory), with a near permanent activity of the hard disk (using virtual memory). Previous versions of amuled don't have this problem.

Linux, opensuse 10.3. I use amule.

Btw. I use exactly the same config I used for CVS version. Just right after upgrade I noticed very long start and shortly after -- the CPU usage.
