For instance, does it help to "add friends?" (Does it help to send a message to "friends?")

Is there a way to get more and better "sources," besides "extended options?" (Many of my partial downloads are just sitting there with negligible or no sources, and the "last reception" was in 2007. Is there a way to jump-start these files?)

Also, is there a better way to search for new files, through an individual or a particular port? (My practice is to simply type in a word or  words and hope for the best.)

I appreciate any help you can give me.

If that client has a file you want and its low on sources, you could ask for a slot, yes.
Don't expect a speedy response (if any) because many mulers don't look at their client every 5minutes.

I would read the sticky at the top of  the 'aMule Help' sub forum (New to aMule?) for info on obtaining reliable Serverlist, IPfilter and other essential information.

searching from the client through Server or KAD  is one way of getting 'new' files, yes, but it can be hard to filter through the fakes,
also there are sites that offer verified ed2k links which I'm not going to mention for obvious reasons.
