Speed at which files are downloaded
« on: May 08, 2010, 08:31:45 PM »

It is my understanding that files are downloaded one "chunk" (approx. 9.28MB) at a time according to ones place in the download queue. On several rare occasions COMPLETE files were uploaded to me by a single client (uploader) and at high speeds. How/why does this "phenomenon" occur? (And thanks to the generous uploaders who conveyed those files to me at lightning-speed!!!)

he he, that could have been me...  ;D
In my download queue, there are 0 clients,
meaning that nobody has to wait in line,
meaning that all clients needing files that i have,
will continuously be downloading files from me until completion.
There are a few clients that have each downloaded over 200 GB from me.
Its because im very fortunate to have a great upload capacity
(several MB/s), which depends on your ISP subscription.
When your upload capacity is smaller,
clients will have to wait in line.

RRM, thanks for the reply. And, if indeed you were my "benefactor", thanks for that too! Did you have to "configure" anything to upload at such high speeds? Or, is it simply due to the high quality/speed of your ISP? I know your time is valuable, but if you could explain further, I would appreciate it. Thanks either way. Regards.

The latter; it depends on your subscription.
You just need to find out whether where you live there is a ISP subscription available
(cable / glassfiber) that allows you to upload one or more MB/s.
