How to not share Incoming and Temp
« on: May 16, 2004, 09:01:25 PM »

Hello all,

I want to know if it's possible NOT to share the folders .Incoming and .Temp.

I want to share other files but not those I'm dowloading.

I have not seen any options to do this.

I am using Amule with Linux.

Anyone have an idea ?

Cheers,

Is it technically possible to do it ? If it's possible, has it been not implemented by choice or because no one thought of it ?

My point is that you can get prosecuted for sharing things but not downloading. In my country you have the right to have personal copies of things you have bought but it is illegal to put these copies at the disposal of others.

If the no sharing option was implemented then it would be better in legal terms. Of course, there might be lamers who would share nothing but anyway they would get penalized for it in terms of waiting queues etc...

Hi,

Well,  if i understand u well, u r  saying that u dont want to share your files because it is illegal, but it is ok if other people do illegal things by sharing theirs.

Quite selfish, isnt it :)

and "In my country you have the right to have personal copies of things you have bought", i think u havent bought what u r downloading, do u ? :)

aMule was made to share only legal content, so there must be no problem if u use it correctly ;)

Try to see it from developer's point of view. If you get into problems for downloading copyrighted stuff (and if the stuff you don't wanna share is the incoming/temp, you obviously do) the only thing we can say is... don't dl copyrighted stuff. Other behaviour from the developers would be encourage piracy, and that's something we will never doo. p2p is not about piracy, although some people use it for piracy. lot of people. most of the people. But we of course are against it :)
