Performance issue
« on: November 05, 2004, 06:52:28 PM »

Perhaps somebody can help me?

I have a PC running Linux Mandrake 9.2 behind a Bewan ADSL 600 router. My connection is a 2Mb  connexion. And I can surf on the other PCs of my private network at this speed: 219KB/s right now.

But as soon as I start aMule (1.2.8 ), even if it downloads around 10-15KB (80-120Kb)/s my other PC can only surf at around 10-20KB/s.

Is there a reason for that? Does it depens on the number of downloads that are queued? I currently have about 200 queued downloads, on which about 20 are active (waiting or downloading), and the other ones are stopped or paused.

Do you know why my connexion could become so slow?

Thanks,

Chankel

youre router is not limiting the bandwidth for each pc, is it?
so, aMule uses, apart from the bandwidth for downloading, the bandwith for uploading and for connecting. limit the upload bandwidth limits and the hard conections limit and max connections so that it doesn't take too much bandwodth.
Greetings!

I'll try that. But why was this not the case when my connection was 512K, and 1024K? It's only since I got a 2048K one...

maybe you have been gfiven a higher download bandwidth but a lower upload bandwidth. so you should limit your upload some more.
Could this be your problem?
